Took Pantoprazole for 2weeks ending of 2weeks still had burning throat at night. Got switched to Zantac (ranitidine) & not working well. Best medication treatment?

See your doctor.: if your symptoms returned after two weeks of pantoprazole, you may need it longer-term. I do not recommend taking it long term unless it has been prescribed by a physician, however. I would return to see your gastroenterologist to discuss it further. In the meantime, follow anti-reflux precautions well. Good luck. ...Read more

Rare: The majority of esophageal Ca's are in the cardioesophageal junction where stomach meets esophagus. This tumor is induced by h. pylori. This organism induces ulcers in mucosa which is repaired by influx of bone marrow stem cells. GErd: If the hiatal hernia has no symptoms than you need nothing. Less is more with meds and if Zantac (ranitidine) is going fine don't change. 7% of the population have hiatal hernias and a few need surgery if they are symptomatic beyond medical management. ...Read more

Your: H pylori will remain, possibly increasing your risk of stomach cancer over time. You are also at risk of developing a gastric ulcer which can bleed or perforate. Much better to get rid of it, even though you've grown to live with it. ...Read more
