See answer: Though treating you with Doxycycline was not inappropriate , it certainly is possible that your dysuria was not related to recurrent or residual chlamydia. Test-of-cure (i.e., repeat testing 3–4 weeks after completing therapy) is not advised for persons treated with the recommended or alternative regimens, unless therapeutic compliance is in question, symptoms persist, or reinfection is suspected. ...Read more

Hello. I was wondering if a z-pack would cure chlamydia? The single dose is 1g at once. But would the five day pack work as well?

Understanding med: This one will cure it. It is different from many antibiotics in its mechanics. Others you take daily for a long while because it doesn't stay in your system long enough to work unless you take it every day and sometimes several times a day. This one is absorbed into your bodies fat cells and leaks into the blood slowly over a week or more.Taken all at once (1gm) it works fine. ...Read more

Does a z pack treat gonorrhea or chlamydia?

Yes and no: The medication in a z-pack, azithromycin, is the drug of choice for chlamydia. However, it is supposed to be given as 1gm stat, i.e. Four 250mg tablets taken all at once. A z-pack is dosed differently. The recommended medication for gonorrhea is a muscular injection of Ceftriaxone 250mg x 1. You can use azithromycin 2gm x 1, but it is not ideal. ...Read more

What prostatitis infection after hand job with oil? Chlamydia and gonorrhea neg. doxy, cipro, (ciprofloxacin) z pack, no help. Flagyl helped little. What do I do?

What prostatitis infection after hand job with oil?

Chlamydia and gonorrhea neg.

doxy, cipro, (ciprofloxacin) z pack, no help. Flagyl helped little.

What do I do?

Doubt prostatitis: No STD or any infection that might cause prostatitis is possible from such contact. I'm guessing your symptoms are some combination of urinary urgency, bladder discomfort, and/or testicular or low abdominal pain. Most men with such symptoms have genitally focused anxiety--pain from pevlic muscle tension not prostate. That all the antibiotics didn't help is very strong evidence against infection. ...Read more

Ive had brown discharge after taking zithromax for chlamydia. What do that mean?

Chlamydia treatment: Dried old blood from irritation caused by the infection. This should go away soon. If you still have these symptoms over a week, pelvic pain, or painful urination, you should be rechecked. How possible is it to have passed chlamydia to my partner that never had it if I had sex 3 days after taking 1g Zithromax ?

I still have a clear discharge 5 days after the 1g dose of Zithromax. How long does it take for symptoms of Chlamydia to stop?

A few more days: If "clear" discharge is an improvement (e.g. previously cloudy or colored), then no worries. It can take a week or more for chlamydia symptoms to clear entirely. Return to your doctor if it hasn't cleared after another week or so. ...Read more

I took Zithromax to treat my chlamydia but had sex the same night. My partner hasn't been tested yet. Will my Zithromax still be affective?

Probably..but: You need to have your partner treated so you don't pass the chlamydia back and forth to each other. He/she should be tested. Also you talk to your doc about being retested in a few weeks--urine tested--to be sure the Zithromax worked given that you were exposed after treatment began. ...Read more

I was treated for Chlamydia w 1g Zithromax is it possible that I passed it to my partner he never had it & we had unprotected sex 3days after??

STDs: it is possible that you may have transmitted before you got treated. Men do not always show symptoms. He should be checked as well and get treated. I recommend this as he can re-infect you again if he is carring the infection. Stop having sex, and get your partner checked. ...Read more

I wk ago I tested + for chlamydia & took Zithromax. Current Sx is only minimal clear discharge. Is this normal? currently on 2nd dose of Zithromax.

Give it more time: It often takes a week or more for chlamydia symptoms to clear up entirely. If your discharge was previously colored or in larger amount, i.e. if "minimal clear discharge" is an improvement, you didn't need the second dose of azithromycin. Just sit tight for a few more days and see your doctor if it's still not back to normal. However, all people with chlamydia should be retested after 3 months. ...Read more

We got treated for chlamydia, with a one day dose of zithromax. We had sex 5 days after he took his meds, instead of a week. How likly is reinfection?

Watch and see: If you want odds, see your bookie. Otherwise, wait to see if your symptoms return. Was this just a test to see if you can get away with 2 less days than the doctor recommended? There is usually a good reason for the recommendations that are made. If symptoms return, retest and retreat. ...Read more

Given Zithromax to treat Chlamydia over a month ago. Haven't had sex since then, and had another test done 2 days ago. Why did I test positive again?

Persistent infection: Azithromycin (Zithromax®) is not perfect against chlamydia; it fails to cure the infection up to 2-3% of the time. It appears to be random. However, recent research has learned that in some people, chlamydia may persist in the intestinal tract. You need retreatment, preferably with 7 days of doxycycline. (This assumes you indeed haven't had sex and could not have been reinfected.) ...Read more

I took a 500mg zithromax pill at 1am yesterday and had unprotected sex with my partner who has chlamydia also and took another pill midnight and one a?

Chlamydia treatment: Proper treatment for chlamydia is 1 gram (1000 mg) azithromycin (Zithromax) in a single dose; you should have taken both pills at once. And you should not be having sex with an untreated partner! Probably all will be OK, but to be most safe I would advise that you ask your doctor for another 500 mg pill and take 2 at once; make sure your partner is treated; and no sex for at least a week. ...Read more
