Z Pack And Alcohol
Took 1 G of Z Pack for Chlamdyia (positive test). Drank alcohol on third day after taking it. Will it not cure my Chlamdyia now?
Azithromycin (zithromax, azithrocin, zmax, azin) is an azalide, a subclass of macrolide antibiotics. Azithromycin is one of the world's best-selling antibiotics.[not in citation given (see discussion.)] it is derived from erythromycin, with a methyl-substituted nitrogen atom incorporated into the lactone ring, thus making ...Read more

I took a four pill pack of zithromax on sunday. I'm having a birthday party on saturday, is it ok for me to drink alcohol? Just want to make sure it won't have a counter effect to medicine or harm me.
By the date of this post your party has passed. For the future or for anyone reading this, in a situation like this if you drink while taking zithromax or any antibiotic for that matter it will not interfere with the effectiveness of the antibiotic. The only issue you may encounter is GI (stomach) issues, which are common with alcohol and also with antibiotics. When combined this could cause more stomach upset, diarrhea, and vomiting. Lastly, consider if you are on antibiotics then you were dealing with an illness or getting over something and drinking while sick is probably not the best idea.
Take care. ...Read more
? Side Effects: After your last dose on day 5, it will take about 2.8 days for half of the medicine to be cleared out of your blood stream. After 14 days from day 5, the med will be cleared out. As for side effects, it will depend on the rate of clearance of the medication. ...Read more
Different antibiotic: Azithromycin and Amoxicillin are used to treat many common infections and are both effective for many of the same infections. Azithromycin is from a class of antibiotics called macrolides. Amoxicillin, as the name implies, is a penicillin derivative. There are some specific infections which only Azithromycin could treat and vice versa. ...Read more

Possibly...: Sometimes, after acute bronchitis has healed, the airways remain inflamed and this produces bronchospasm so the cough continues. If your doctor diagnoses this, you can be placed on a bronchodilator and a steroid inhaler until the residual cough completely resolves. So, see you doctor for a follow-up visit. If you smoke, you need to quit today! ...Read more
I came off the z pack Saturday. Is it ok to go ahead and start my augmention? I heard they can interact
Increase side effect: The Z-Pak (azithromycin) and Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) antibiotics do not interact with one another, but a concern may be that you will see an increase in side effects if you have both of them in your system! Not sure how you tolerated the Z-Pak but both of these antibiotics can cause diarrhea, nausea, stomach upset, etc. Be sure to take Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) with food, that should help with any GI issues. ...Read more
Just finished the full course of my Z pack. Still coughing repeatedly. Was diagnosed with bronchitis?
I have been taking a z pack for step for over 24 hrs. I did give my boyfriend oral sex just hours ago. Should we be concerned?
Only slight concern: Strep rarely if ever causes infection in partners after oral sex. Your BF should be on the lookout for penile irritation or redness in the next few days, but probably it won't happen. Some viruses that can mimic strep (certain adenovirus strains) can infect the urethra, with painful urination and discharge, but no worries if no symptoms within a week. But no more oral until your symptoms are gone. ...Read more
I've taken a zpack for my pneumonia I finished the Z pack today and I'm still not feeling well does the Z pack still stay in the system for a few more days working?
Diarrhea...: Diarrhea is the most common. Allergy, cardiac effects, other problems are possible but extremely rare. The biggest concern, of course, is helping bacteria become resistant, but since Azithromycin is never used to treat very serious infections, this is less of a problem than with other antibiotics. ...Read more
Stick to instruct: It's best to stick to the instructions with the z-pack. The dosing and timing is meant to allow a fairly constant, and set, amount of antibiotics to be maintained in your system. This set dosing allows for maximum effectiveness against the bacterial infection. If you take the z-pack pill a few hours before or after the 24-hour mark, this isn't a big deal. But stay within 4-6 hours of the mark. ...Read more

Re-ask the question: Based on how you phrased the question, I cannot answer it. What happened? If what happened is associated with your allegation of association with a z-pak, then, perhaps I can answer the concern or someone on health tap may be able to. Best of luck! ...Read more
I started z-pack at about 1:00 on Saturday. Do I need to wait until 1:00on Sundayto take the next dose?
Don't have to: You didn't mention AM or PM. If you took it at 1 AM, then take the next one before you go to bed. It is best to stick to every 24 hr dosing schedule, but if there is a few hours of discrepancy then it is OK. However, there are certain medications that interact with Azithromycin (Z-pack) that needs more precise timing. ...Read more

I've been coughing since 11/29. It's all throughout the day and is sometimes so hard I gag. I finished a z-pack last sat and it hasn't helped any.
Cough.: Need to see your doc to consider next step. You have already pointed out that bacterial infections are not a common cause of cough unless there is a corresponding infiltrate on cxr. If sx persist one should consider cxr and good exam to exclude asthma / lung disease and other upper airway maladies that can cause this. ...Read more
