Possibly: Or you may be getting over a cold. As a cold improves the nasal secretions get thicker and a little yellow. If you are coughing up thick brown sputum with a deep cough i would be more concerned about a bacterial pneumonia or possibly bronchitis. Not rare: Any secretions will color within hours due to normal bacteria living on the nasal membranes. Baby needs a good clean out with nasal saline and suction. URI: This sounds like an acute viral URI (common cold) possibly complicated by bronchitis, but without seeing you and examining you it is really very difficult to predict.
