While taking antibiotics with a middle ear infection. The yellow discharge from my ear has afoul smell. Smells like a 3 day band aid over a wound.
See your doctor: If you have foul discharge from your ear, you either have had a middle ear infection that has ruptured your eardrum or you have an external ear infection. Either way, you need an ear exam and probable eardrops in addition to your oral antibiotics. ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
I have yellow oily discharge from my ear . It feels very itchy and the canal feels like it's full . what could it be ?
Eczema: A clear, yellow discharge is often indicative of eczematous otitis externa. This can occur if the ear canal is dry or if a person uses Qtips too often to clean the ear canals. This habit is to be discouraged. The ears will accumulate debris and be itchy chronically. Stop Qtips and moisturize the ear. Olive oil or mineral oil can be put in the canal daily after showering. See an ENT if persists. ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
My 9 year old has 2 perforated eardrums, had a cold for approx 4 weeks. Lots of yellow discharge coming from both ears and he in lot pain?
See an ENT: He needs to be evaluated. Chronic drainage in a setting of perforations of longer duration can be indicative of other problems like cholesteatoma. And it is not normal to have ear drum ruptures on each side with an infection if that is what happened. He likely needs drops and potentially oral antibiotics. And potentially surgery later if the perforations don't resolve. ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
I've noticed over the past couple of days that my left ear keeps on discharging runny, yellow and smelly stuff. Why does this happen?
Best to see MD: The ear is actually a closed system. The outer ear can't get to the middle ear due to the tympanic membrane. If there is discharge, either there is an infection , and a bad one in the canal causing it, but more likely an infected middle ear with perforation of the tympanic membrane causing fluid to go through. It is best to be examined and treated right. ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
Ear discharge: There are several possibilities. An infection in the outer ear canal could be the cause, but a cold doesn't usually cause this. For the drainage to be from the middle ear area, it would have to pass through or rupture the tympanic membrane that would be very painful. Colds can be complicated by a middle ear infection. You should call your doctor to be examined so you can receive proper care. ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
Should child still be in lot pain with ears when has 2 perforated drums? Has lots of yellow discharge, 1st nurse said bacterial, 2nd said was viral
Interesting question: Usually when someone has a middle ear infection, the pain is caused by pus behind the ear drum, causing the ear drum to bulge. Once the ear drum perforates, there's no bulging or pressure because the pus is draining through the perforation. However, this probably needs treatment with ear drops and/or oral antibiotics. The short answer is: this patient needs to see a doctor and get treatment! ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
