Weight gain after receiving 4 bags of normal saline IV solution? I gained 7 lbs. Had severe dehyd after diarrhea. In the ER, given 4 bags over a 9 hr course. Went in at 115lbs and now after 3 days, at 222 lbs. Normal? How long till out of body?

Normal: Each bag was a Liter of fluid (essentially a quart). Each quart is two pints. A pint of fluid weighs about a pound. "Pints a pound the world round" so you got 8 pints or 8 pounds of fluid. Your weight went up appropriately. Many issues!: Many problems may be unrelated, but pcos needs to be excluded, because of it being a part of metabolic syndrome. You did not mention if you are overweight and carry it on the middle. Pcos is associated with high free (not total) testosterone, which could explain several issues. Hyperpolactinemia is common, could cause sore breast, but is associated with scant or absent periods. Need much more: You don't mention your daughters age, general health, or any other symptoms she is having. Has she had vomiting, fever, pain? Has she been seen by a doctor at all yet? With only knowing she has had diarrhea for 2 weeks, would say monitor diet to include high protein, low dairy, no simple sugars and lots of water. Would recommend evaluation if this has gone on two weeks already. ...Read more
