Is it possible to cure BV and yeast with probiotic capsules alone. I've been treated twice for vaginitis and still have symptoms.

Is it possible to cure BV and yeast with probiotic capsules alone. I've been treated twice for vaginitis and still have symptoms.

Anything possible: But exceedingly unlikely. If you are getting recurrence of BV you may want to have your partner apply antibiotic ointment or cream to the surface of his penis. He may be recolonizing you. There are no proven "natural" ways to address this. Probiotics are certainly not bad, will change the character of your stools, and may even inhibit recurrence but are not curative. ...Read more

Probiotic (Definition)

Probiotics, by definition, are beneficial bacteria that live in our intestinal tract to help us maintain health intestines and colon. There are several species of these bacteria that are helpful to us including lactobacillus acidophilus. The meats we eat contain antibiotics that kill our natural bacteria that reside in our gut. Today, you will replace these ...Read more

Will florastor exacerbate a vaginal yeast infection as it's a yeast-based probiotic?

Will florastor exacerbate a vaginal yeast infection as it's a yeast-based probiotic?

No: Just as there are many types of bacteria there are many types of yeast. Vaginal yeast infections are caused by candida (usually albicans but there are other varieties). Florastor is a "friendly" yeast that is similar to baker's yeast. It does not cause infections, in fact taking it with antibiotics reduces liklihood of vaginal yeast ; diarrhea. It's safe though some are allergic to it. ...Read more

If i take fish oil, vitamin c, b-100, vitamin d, red yeast rice, probiotics, calcium pill, do I still need a multivitamin?

If i take fish oil, vitamin c, b-100, vitamin d, red yeast rice, probiotics, calcium pill, do I still need a multivitamin?

Eat healthy: Depends what condition it is being taken for. Generally, a well balanced diet and regular exercise program averts the need for all of these. Interestingly, some recent research studies implicate that multivitamin intake is associated with a higher overall mortality. ...Read more

Weather has been hot. Vaginal dryness w/ cuts (from dryness?) no yeast, I take probiotics daily. Regular discharge. Tiny tears. What's the reason?

Weather has been hot. Vaginal dryness w/ cuts (from dryness?) no yeast, I take probiotics daily. Regular discharge. Tiny tears. What's the reason?

Sounds like yeast: This sounds typical for vulvovaginal candidiasis, i.e. a vaginal yeast infection. Why do you believe "no yeast"? Whatever the cause, this isn't something you're likely to work out on your own or by online research. See a doctor. Best wishes. ...Read more

Been take PB8 probiotics. Left in cabinet, weather has been 75, now they stop working. I have yeast inf symptoms. Probiotics+fluconazole to prevent?

Yeast infection : whether or not your doctor will decide to put you on fluconazole depends mostly on where the presumed yeast infection is located. You can continue using the probiotic, although it may be less effective if it wasn't stored properly. I would make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as you can. Good luck. ...Read more

Could yeast in the stomach make you feel ill? Probiotic helps yeast?

Could yeast in the stomach make you feel ill? Probiotic helps yeast?

Not a yeast problem: There is no such thing as over exposure or over ingestion of yeasts, which are entirely normal in the environment, on our skin, and in our intestines and often genital tracts. Yeasts sometimes cause local symptoms, such as vaginitis. But overgrowth and "systemic candidiasis" are urban myths. I doubt your symptoms are from you yeast; if probiotics help, it won't be because yeast was the cause. ...Read more

Probiotic ... Continuous yeast infections, how does this help it. Currently severe burning and pain?

See below: It may help by providing you with healthy bacteria that keep yeast away. However; if you have not had a pelvic exam in light of this history, you should do as you may have something else. Also, if you have recurrent yeast infections, you need a workup to see why this is occurring such as screening for diabetes among other conditions. ...Read more

Do I have to go on the candia diet for vagional yeast infections ? Or are probiotics enough to prevent infections?

Do I have to go on the candia diet for vagional yeast infections ? Or are probiotics enough to prevent infections?

It depends on...: This depends. If you just have vaginal yeast a candida diet is not necessary but if it is recurrent that is usually caused by yeast overgrowth in our intestines, known as intestinal candidiasis, a common side effect of antibiotics ; hormones. This is treated with a low starch diet, probiotics ; antifungal drugs or herbs.
