According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Should be safe: Terconazole is pregnancy class c due to poor data, but it does not appear to cause birth defects or other problems, even taken orally (systemically). The suppository is far safer because the drug is delivered only to your vaginal walls, and doesn't get systemically absorbed to an appreciable level. Terconazole suppositories are often prescribed to pregnant women with yeast infections. ...Read more

I'm 26 weeks pregnant & have taken 8 diflucan (fluconazole) pills for yeast infections during my pregnancy by my ob. Didn't know it was category c! have i hurt baby?!

Diflucan (fluconazole) - pregnancy: It is extremely unlikely that Diflucan (fluconazole) caused any harm to the baby. Most studies have shown the medication to be safe. High doses used less than 10 weeks of gestation are one exception. The overall risk is low, especially if you had a normal anatomy ultrasound at 18-22 weeks. ...Read more

Will taking Azo yeast infection pills while pregnant harm the baby? I take these for utis.

Will taking Azo yeast infection pills while pregnant harm the baby? I take these for utis.

Azo aren't for yeast: Azo are not yeast infection pills. They are used to reduce bladder spasms. They don't treat utis but are used to help with symptoms while antibiotics can kick in. It's best to check in with your OB if you're having bladder trouble. A bladder infection that's untreated during pregnancy can spread to the kidney and possibly cause preterm birth. ...Read more

Does yeast infection cream while pregnant reach the baby? Does it cross the placenta? Will terconazole 3day regimen 0.8% harm my baby? I'm 37weeks

No harm to baby: You've been asking questions repeatedly about your yeast infection. As in my previous reply, you can be sure your doctor would not have prescribed terconazole unless it were safe. It won't hurt the baby. If you have further concerns, you'll get the best advice from your doctor's office. HealthTap can't help more than we already have. Best wishes for safe delivery and a healthy baby. ...Read more

If I am 19 weeks pregnant and have a yeast infection is it okay to take azo yeast plus? Will this harm my baby or cause any bitrth defects?

Not a problem: I assume that you will be treating the infection intra-vaginally. None of the azo will get to your developing baby. You are also beyond the critical period during which drugs might have an effect. ...Read more

While have a yeast infection is it ok to use the terconazole vaginal cream while pregnant and 3cm dilated? Will it harm the baby?

While have a yeast infection is it ok to use the terconazole vaginal cream while pregnant and 3cm dilated? Will it harm the baby?

Terconazole: This is a category c medication, but taken vaginally is unlikely to be absorbed in sufficient concentration to harm a fetus. This safety assessment does not account for possible exposure of the fetus through direct transfer of terconazole from an irritated vagina by diffusion across amniotic membranes. Sorry i cannot provide an easy yes or no response. ...Read more
