Yaz Hormone Levels
No: Your pituitary controls a number of hormones including thyroid, growth, testosterone & estradiol, among others. While growth hormone deficiency won't "lower" testosterone, pituitary damage leading to growth hormone deficiency can also lead to hypogonadism or low testosterone. It's also common to have a defect in just one hormone rather than all. Traumatic brain injury is not a major concern. ...Read more
A hormone (from greek ὁρμή, "impetus") is a chemical released by a cell or a gland in one part of the body that sends out messages that affect cells in other parts of the organism. Only a little amount of hormone is required to alter cell metabolism. In essence, it is a chemical messenger that transports a signal from ...Read more
High follicle-stimulating hormone (fsh) and luteinizing hormone (lh)--what are normal levels at ovulation?
Interesting question: I have not found any publications specifically studying this question. Antipsychotics and Prozac (fluoxetine) can affect prolactin, potentially changing sex hormone levels. This may or may not relate to shbg levels, though. I did find one small (20 patients) study online concerning low testosterone levels and antidepressant-induced sexual dysfunction: http://tinyurl.Com/mk84cfr further research needed. ...Read more
For some yes: Estroven is an over the counter herbal supplement to improve hormonal imbalance during perimenopause. It can help women who have mild symptoms and are good candidates for hormone use. (a poor candidate are women with heart disease, diabetes, cancers, blood clots). If you have severe symptoms, this will not help and you can consider bio identical hormone replacement. ...Read more

Testost. Lev. Are normal, LH levels normal. But prolactine levels are 2.0 ng\ml.I am escitalopram user. What to di?
Likely: There are gh receptors, igf-1 and gh releasing hormone receptors on the leydig cells. Boys born gh deficient have micro penis often. Their testes don't respond normally to lh during gestation. Pubertal development is hampered by gh deficiency until replaced. Men with gh deficiency can have impaired fertility. Replacing gh increases seminal fluid. Not sure if testo levels change +/- gh in adults. ...Read more
To some extent: Decline in hgh can lower the production of several other hormones to some extent. Aging is accompaned by declining testosterone levels also. Referred to as andropause. The decline is not as swift and dramatic as womens menopause, but it does cause symptoms that are reversed with testostterone replacement. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Poor correlation: Hi. Oral cortisol (aka hydrocortisone) does not reliably affect ACTH secretion nor aldosterone levels. That is somewhat unfortunate for those of us treated adrenal insufficiency, since determination of proper dose is based solely on clinical response, and not labs. Aldosterone is driven by the renin-angiotensin system bypassing the pituitary. UIHC is excellent, so you have great docs close at hand ...Read more
I have hypothyroidism & pituitary micro adenoma. Can taking Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) 4 1.5 months increase above normal the levels of tsh, prolactin, pth, & tg?
Lab reference ranges: Levels of these hormones are only as reliable as their test kits. One lab may use a different method for detection than another. You may not be able to compare values between different labs. Labs also set their normal ranges based on multiple tests. You need to discuss these hormones with an endocrinologist as they're trained to understand the different testing methods. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
