Hurt ribs &muscles around ribs a week ago, xray showed not broken but when mashed on I can feel them move & pop. Still have moderate pain. What is it?

Could be fracture: Rib fractures don't always show up on x-ray. They DO hurt. You can also get pneumonia from not breathing deeply enough because of the pain, or puncture a lung from too much movement if there's a sharp edge. Take the pain meds you have for other conditions, use heat locally to help muscles and ribs to heal. If you get a fever or get very short of breath, see your doctor. Good luck! ...Read more
