Not great combo: Concomitant administration of clonazepam (Klonopin) and carbamazepine (Tegretol) resulted in a 22% increase in clonazepam clearance and a 20.5% decrease in carbamazepine clearance. Carbamazepine is well known to induce its own metabolism as well as the metabolism of other meds making it difficult to manage. Consult provider. Not necessarily: As a starting dose that is definetely a high dose, but if you have been on it for while it is a moderate dose. Tolerance may occur which means that after a while the same dose is no longer effective. Doses more than 40-60 mg are unlikely to have increased benefit and something else should be considered.
