That depends.: I am assuming it was prescribed for you, and the person to ask is the prescribing physician/clinician. Alprazolam is rapidly absorbed and can help sleep, but is relatively short acting (3-4 hours) and can result in 'rebound' where people awaken after the drug wears off.
