MDMA : Mdma is a very potent stimulant, and affects the central nervous system by causing massive amounts of serotonin to be released. The (mostly) permanent side effects on the brain, affect those areas where serotonin is important in the brain, including the anterior lobes, and hypothalamus, areas closely connected to personality, and the experience of anxiety. Xanax belomgs to the class of benzodiazepines, which are commonly used to relieve anxiety, but are well known to have long term mood altering side effects (major depression). Vicodin is an analgesic, and has effects on dopamin release in the brain and peripheral nervous system. Brain physiology and chemistry is very sensitive, and largely unknown. In my opinion the use of mdmd is hazardous at best, and the long term side effects on the brain are not beneficial. Combining mdma with any other mood altering drugs is even more hazardous, and may result in fatal consequences. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Alprazolam is a short acting benzodiazepine, it does not last long in the system . So when used regularly with multiple doses to treat anxiety, it is associated with inter-dose withdrawal, tolerance and a resulting increase level of baseline anxiety. So in anxiety clinics, we use it only in cases of " flight , dentist or other infrequent anxieties, ...Read more
I'm having tumesc lipo and the preop oral sedation is Xanax (alprazolam) and Vicodin. I'm hypersensitive to meds. Is this combo safe to take?
At certain doses..: Narcotics and benzodiazepines can work together to suppress your breathing, which would be bad. However small amounts of each works well together for preoperative medicine. If you are concerned, take a half of each pill. ...Read more
Had a panic attack last night, took .25 mg xanax (alprazolam). Prescribed vicodin for my period and would like to take one today. Is this safe? No other meds.
Addiction: Wow. Vicodin, if it has any effect, can make anxiety worse. It is not an anxiolytic. Perhaps, it is time to take a big step back and look at your life. Having these pills at hand often represents an addict lifestyle. Now, in my book, addict is not a bad word. It is a disease. What would it be like for you to stop all pills and to look for natural and healthier ways to live; to manage stress? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Why don't medicines work on me? I've taken medicines such as Vicodin, Xanax (alprazolam) and Adderall and Advil but it doesn't work. Nothing has ever worked on me.
I'm taking 1 mg. Xanax, (alprazolam) 3 times a day and Vicodin 2 tablets every 6 hrs. Will I be ok?
Depends: These are not drugs that it is good to take long term. You should not stop the xanax (alprazolam) abruptly as that can cause withdrawal symptoms. The problem with these medications is that they are addictive and the body gets used to them and then they do not work so well and you need more and more. Try to work with your doctor to find other treatments for your symptoms that are safer and healthier. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Don't do it: I wouldn't suggest taking either medication, particularly in the long term. Xanax (alprazolam) and vicodin are short acting and both encourages abuse as a result. People also build up a tolerance and feel they need more medication to get the same results. Try deep breathing to relieve our anxiety and go see a psychiatrist or therapist. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Im prescribed vicodin and xanax (alprazolam). It scares me to take both in the same day in fear of low respiratory breathing effects, but i need both, should I worry?
Why Xanax (alprazolam)?: Xanax (alprazolam) can be used short-term, but because it induces tolerance and can be addictive, it's not a good long-term option for anxiety. Hoping you're working with a psychiatrist who has thoroughly evaluated your anxiety and offered a comprehensive treatment plan that includes psychotherapy. On the vicodin, hoping you've had a full pain evaluation also -- rather than treating only symptomatically. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I'm getting an IUD replacement tonight, and have severe anxiety about the pain. Is it safe for me to take .5 mg Xanax (alprazolam) and a 5/300 Vicodin at once? I do have prescriptions for both, but have never taken them at the same time.
Yes: There is no drug interaction between the two drugs but you report that are very anxious about the potential pain you might have to go thru. Being a man I can't report on any personal experience. However if it is generally a very unpleasant painful experience I cannot imagine that they would have stayed around as long as they have. Talk to your OB about your fears. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Detox?: Detox is only the first step, and it seems you've already been through this at least twice. You seem to have some very persistent addictions, and may or may not be staying involved with outpatient recovery programs after discharge. This is the hardest part -- but also the most ongoing thing that will save your life. The big question is: are you willing to stop using? If so, see your doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
With caution: As long as your physician(s) are aware that you are on both medications they can be taken together. In combination, "one" of each may make you more sleepy than either alone. No.: Vicodin is a narcotic, which is a sedative and may contribute to respiratory sedation. Alprazolam has the same action, but is a benzodiazepine. This combination, especially with alcohol -- a third sedative/hypnotic -- could stack up substances in your system and potentially stop breathing. Be very careful and responsible when it comes to multiple medications. Let your doctor know about all meds. ...Read more
