Why?: I am not sure why you would need to take two different benzodiazapines at the same time. Both have potential to build tolerance. I would not prescribe both at the same time to a patient, however different providers select different options. Please discuss this fully with your prescribing provider. Take care. ...Read more
Low probability: There are the possibility of low probability side effects. You also may find operating a motor vehicle more challenging when taking xanax (alprazolam) with any medications. ...Read more
I take hydrocodone, cyclobenzaprine, amitriptyline, xanax, (alprazolam) and cymbalta. Xanax (alprazolam) as needed, cymbalta brand new - causing nausea. Can I take ondansetron?
Wouldn't recommend: you are already on several drugs which inhibit serotonin reuptake, increasing their levels - amitriptylene, Cymbalta (duloxetine) and cyclobenzaprine all have that potential, and ondansetron does it big time. This can result in the serotonin syndrome which is dangerous and even potentially fatal. All of these drugs also produce sedation. I would talk with your provider and pharmacist about safety of this. ...Read more

Hi, I am taking celexa 20 mg for depression and anxiety and klonopin (clonazepam) for anxiety and panic. Could I replace the klonopin (clonazepam) with amitriptyline safely?
Not enough info: Switching medications requires knowledge of your entire clinical situation. You need to discuss with prescribing doctor reason for changing any med and how to do so. Also you must be seen and carefully monitored for symptoms and side effects. I hope this helps. ...Read more

Same doctor gave it?: You better make sure the same doctor who gave you desipramine and Celexa knows you are planning to take Ambien (zolpidem) too. If more than one doctor gave you these medications, then you are going to get in trouble because all these medications work on the brain and interact. I highly recommend you pick one doctor and make sure he/she recommends you take all three before you proceed. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
