6 + weeks: A simple fracture may heal as early as 6 weeks, but more complex fractures of the leg may take many months to heal. Your orthopedic surgeon will take xrays to evaluate healing and is the best person to tell you how long it might take. Hello. My 10 year old son had an X-ray today and was diagnosed with a chipped tibia. Although the chip is very small, shouldn't they splint his leg?
Hard to say: A simple chip is an injury that may not cause any instability or compromise the function of the bone.Without having the benefit of the full history, exam and x-ray findings it is inappropriate to second guess someone who has that data. If you would feel better, get a second hands on opinion or get an over the counter splint and do it yourself. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Nerve irritation: In this case, one of your nerve roots is likely irritated by the bulging disc. The disc may have a tear and release chemical signals that will irritate a nearby nerve root, or even intermittently make contact and compress the root. The resultant stray signals from the root is the tingling. No need to see doctor unless tingling gets painful or leg becomes weak/numb & interferes with function. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Broken Tibia on right ankle. Ankle reduction 2 weeks ago, no improvement in new X-ray. What should I do?
Relax! Don't do it.: Even with a spectacular reduction of the fracture, two weeks is hardly enough time judge improvement. A lot of bone absorption followed by bone deposition has to occur. Sometimes early x-rays may look like the healing has stalled or even reversed. Be patient and let your body do it's stuff. ...Read more

This type of injury really needs to be seen and followed in an office setting. ...Read more

If it isn't working properly it can result in "foot drop". Deconditioning can also give a "heavy" feeling. ...Read more
