X Ray Of Clavicle
X-ray of an undiagnosed healed clavicle fracture showed bony bump formed very close to the coracoid, causing sharp pain during sleep. Any suggestions?
Sharp pain during: sleep would unlikely be linked solely to a bone bump. One must asses the soft tissue structures near that region as well as the joints close to that region, and the ligments that hold the clavicle, the coracoid and the acromion in reaaltionship to each other., as a start. The bone bump may ne a so called red herring, a finding that is not realted to the real issue or can indirectly linked. ...Read more
Generalised OA (x-Ray hands feet knees hip clavicle, MRI spine) dry eyes/mouth, history hypermobility, lumbar/cervical stenosis radiculopathy TMJD diverticulitis prolapses FUO - but seronegative and comprehensive blood tests always normal. Any ideas?
I broke my clavicle in middle and went to ER. They took x-ray and gave me a sling but no information. What do I need to do and avoid doing to heal?

What could a painful, hard, non movable lump on 9 month old sons left clavicle area be?? When X-ray shows normal 2 times??
Lump: It is probably an enlarged lymph node and likely benign. It could be a cyst of some kind, but that's less likely. Why was it xrayed twice? See your pediatrician. The baby should be examined for other "lumps" particularly in both axillae, groin, and opposite neck area. I would check the baby's CBC to make sure the white count wasn't ominous. ...Read more
I'm a 45 yo female. I had an X-ray done. It said osseous structures demonstrates a probable 1 CM lytic focus versus artifact overlying the clavicle.?
Real vs artifact: Did you discuss with the MD who ordered the X-ray? Why was it ordered in first place? Lytic lesions have to be evaluated farther. First repeat the film make sure it's truly there. If it is, you need to have more studies done to determine what it really is. ...Read more
Clavicle repaired with plate two years ago. Chronic discomfort at ends, top of arm and near breastbone. X-ray indicates bone healed & no issues.?
Hardware removal: Couple of things to consider. Hardware removal is an option. It may not relieve all of your pain, but could help. Pain at the sternoclavicular joint (breastbone) could indicate an injury to that joint. Unfortunately, not many good options for that problem. ...Read more
Bony lump medal end of clavicle appeared 1 wk ago. No pain and does not move, X-ray shows normal but it can be seen and felt. No trauma. What next?
No: Xrays are not very good for looking at lymph nodes outside of the chest. A ct (computerized tomography scan) has a much higher sensitivity for looking at lymph nodes inside and outside of your chest. ...Read more
Doc recommends starting rehab after a medial end clavicle-fracture after only 4weeks to prevent a stiff shoulder. X-ray doesn't show union. Too fast?
Rehab clavicle Fx: It usually takes 12 weeks for fractures to heal, so I would not expect to see significant callus formation this early. As long as the fracture is adequately reduced and immobilized, healing should occur. Lack of shoulder movement over a prolonged period can result in adhesive capsulitis. A licensed physical therapist will be able to guide appropriate therapy to prevent this condition. ...Read more
My shoulder just started hurting yesterday morning. What does this mean? And what do I have? And do I have to go to hospital for an X-ray
Need more info:
The shoulder "hurting" may be secondary to a variety of reasons.
Need more history, description of the pain, where it goes, what movements make it painful, etc.
Would suggest just warm moist packs, 3 times per day for about 15 min. If still painful in 2-3 days, or worsening, or new symptoms, then would suggest MD visit. ...Read more
I have dharp pain with pressurre in my back onbleft side below shoulder blade. They found a 5mm shadow in an x-ray. The pain is really bad @ night?
Ask "they"...: Sounds like you have already seen a medical professional for your symptoms if you have had an x-ray. It is not clear what type of x-ray you had or where the shadow was in a lung or in a bony structure. In any respect, the physician who ordered the study would be the most qualified person to give you an idea of diagnosis and rec. Further treatment. ...Read more
It depends: It depends on the type of injury. X-rays are mostly useful for an injury to a bone or joint displacement, although sometimes we can see signs of inflammation on them as well. If the injury is a muscle strain, tendon or ligament injury, the xray won't show it. Significant direct trauma to the shoulder should be x-rayed right away. At about 10 days out, a very small break not seen before may be seen. ...Read more
Wear and tear: "Degenerative changes" means that the shoulder joint shows evidence of what you might call "wear and tear." Could be due to arthritis (osteoarthritis), overuse, prior injury, etc. It also means there is no quick fix for the shoulder pain. Physical therapy, exercises as tolerated, and possibly anti-inflammatory medications could be helpful. ...Read more
I fell a week ago and I hurt my shoulders. My right shoulder has been hurting and medicine is not helping. X-ray shows not broken.?

Can you tell me if on my left shoulder then did an X-ray and he said my spine looks like an s and now I need surgery?
Scoliosis: You certainly would want to discuss this directly with your physician, but one possible explanation was that you were noted to have one shoulder higher than the other prompting an X-ray of the spine in which you were then found to have scoliosis. In general, if the scoliosis is larger than 45-50 degrees, they will tend to relentlessly progress and surgery is recommended. ...Read more
If a X-ray and an MRI show nothing and I still have shoulder pain from falling and landing on my shoulder what do I do?
They did an X-ray of my left shoulder and he said my spine looks like an s. Now I need surgery. What can I expect from the surgery?
Slept on shoulder funny, pain persisting for 4 weeks now, X-ray came back normal. What's going on? Still have full range of motion
Muscle strain: The cause of a soft tissue injury or pain coming from an injured nerve will often not show up on a plain xray. Multiple syndromes of soft tissue injury are possible, especially if there is a history of rotator cuff injury in past. Nerve impingement syndromes also may explain this type of pain. It may be possible to narrow down the cause with a detailed physical exam. See your doctor if it persists. ...Read more
Do all shoulder injuries need a X-ray or mri? What are the symptoms of a separated shoulder and how do you get a separated shoulder?

My 9 years old son has pain in the shoulder that comes and goes. He had an X-ray and blood test everything looks good, what could it be?
My shoulder has been hurting since yesterday morning. What does this mean and what should I do? Get an x-ray?
Anything happen?: You mention that the shoulder hurts. But did you hurt yourself? Work? Fall? It is difficult to make recommendations without more history. If there is an injury then an X-ray is a good idea. Exercising or sports injury maybe an MRI. If you haven't seen your doctor then that might be a good start ...Read more
X-rays R always done: & also a physical xam. The X-rays will show dislocations as will the PE, images look 4 any bony abnormalities. If all negative Ur ortho guy will rely on his/her physical xam (PE). If not able 2 B sure & U sustained a significant blow or twisting injury, an MRI is usually next. The most information comes from an MR with contrast injected into the joint. ...Read more
Is there a legitimate reason to order an X-ray for shoulder injury when an MRI has already been done?
Pain right side spine one inch below shoulder blade around to ribs for months. Back X-ray showed nothing. What could it be?
Thoracic pain: After excluding problems with your lungs (pneumonia), aorta, heart, esophagus, stomach, liver, gallbladder etc. You would want to consider a herniated thoracic disc. Any of these problems could mimic your symptoms. The chronic nature of symptoms suggests, to me, that nerve pressure could be causing. Especially if worse bending/twisting. Easy to confirm with mri. Treatment usually nonsurgical. ...Read more
Started working out with barbell shoulder exercises. Now I have right shoulder & collarbone discomfort. X-ray was normal. Is MRI warranted?
MRI will not: Solve your discomfort on your shoulder and collarbone. You may just have strained or pulled a muscle when you started exercising. Physical therapy, warm compresses and anti-inflammatory medications may help. Take it easy with your exercise. See your doctor if symptoms are getting worst ...Read more
