How do I elevate my arm with tendonitis? Also i believe my other arm or wrist is getting it too.

How do I elevate my arm with tendonitis? Also i believe my other arm or wrist is getting it too.

Not much help: I don't think that elevating your arm is going to help much with a tendonitis unless this may help your shoulder by placing it in a different position. I would suggest over the counter advil or aleve, (naproxen) with some stretching and light exercises. Without knowing the exact location of your tendonitis, it is difficult to give any more precise advise. ...Read more

Can elbow tendonitis cause weakness in hand and arm? Experiencing these symptoms after taking time off gym over 2 months. MRI came back normal

Can elbow tendonitis cause weakness in hand and arm? Experiencing these symptoms after taking time off gym over 2 months. MRI came back normal

FreaknessOfWeakness: Not directly. But any significant pain in an area of such frequent use (i.e. the elbow joint) will cause compensatory motions that tend to decrease the overall work load. This can be almost imperceptible but adds up over time, especially if you ditch gym for two months. This is where physical therapy could help: a program of specific graded exercises to get you back in shape with minimal pain. ...Read more

I overstretched the pinky side of my hand. Now the outside of my arm hurts when i turn it over. Sprain, tendinitis, or something worse?

Tedonitis: Most common cause based on your description would be extensor carpi ulnaris tendonitis. Could also be a mild collateral ligament sprain. Use a splint to rest the wrist, ice it, elevate as much as possible and take anti-inflamatories. If not improved in 5-10 days see hand surgeon or pcp. ...Read more

Ice, elevate: If you are having severe pain, numbness, weakness, or tingling, you should have it looked at in urgent care. Sometimes swelling can track between the tissues causing swelling in an area further down the body. Too much can cause other symptoms and should be looked at sooner rather than later. ...Read more

Is tendonitis of the wrist similar to a sprained wrist?

Is tendonitis of the wrist similar to a sprained wrist?

Not really: Tendonitis is inflammation of a tendon sheath (the tight passageway where tendons glide). A sprained wrist is an injury of the ligaments of the wrist. Tendons move joints and are attached to muscles. Ligaments connect bones to other bones across joints. Both can happen after trauma (a fall or twisting injury), but a sprain doesn't happen over time like tendonitis can develop. ...Read more
