Fell asleep with head on desk, forehead on top of back of hand. Woke up and couldn't move from elbow down for a few minutes. Wrist clicking. Damaged?

Arm troubles: Hello, it sounds like while you were fast asleep, you were compressing your ulnar nerve. This happens easily since the nerve travels close to the elbow. This is only temporary problem and should resolve with a minute or two. As far as the wrist clicking, I would give that a day or so also. Sounds like the positioning of your arm was the problem. ...Read more

My wrist has been clicking for a week with no pain. Should I be worried? It clicks every time I move my hand up (knuckles toward body, palm away)

Don't worry: You either have some joint hypermobility, or sustained a mild injury to it and now it is mildly swollen so the excess fluid makes the sounds you hear. If no pain, would not suggest anything. If becomes uncomfortable, consider seeing an orthopedist for evaluation. ...Read more

When I rotate my wrists, a clicking sound occurs most of the time, but there is no pain or swelling.

Wrist problem.: That would seem to suggest that two of the eight bones in the wrist are hitting into each other. Those bones are connected by ligaments, and a tear of one of those ligaments can lead to two bones encroaching upon each other, causing contact and clicking. I'm in my teens. My wrists crack and click all the time. I Have pain aswell as achiness. Would I need surgery to fix them?

Meds or PT, no surg.: If joints are swollen and warm, I recommend that you get checked for an arthritis condition, but more likely, you have very flexible joints and may be abusing them from overuse with some repetitive motion. Maybe: It could be, but there are so many things that can cause a wrist click that you cannot assume there is a connection without further evaluation. Any: Any answer provided without an examination and review of your x-rays would be speculative. That woud cause pain on the pinky side of the wrist, and may be especially painful when you move your wrist towards the pinky or twist the wrist. ...Read more

Splint: Wrist sprains and strains can take a long time to heal. It is not unusual to have some discomfort for 6-9 months or more. I would suggest an elastic wrist support and avoid painful activities. A ridged wrist splint can be used occasionally. As long as you have some sense that the wrist is getting better, I would continue with conservative treatment. If it gets worse, see your doctor. ...Read more
