Wrapping Body In Saran Wrap
I'm having bad knee pain. Would wrapping it with an ACE bandage work or something more serious. My knee pain is: feels like its gonna give out; pain?
Start with RICE: I'm sorry to hear of your discomfort. Did you injury your knee? Regardless, I recommend you start with rice, and the "c" can be accomplished with the ace bandage you mentioned. With the sensation that your knee is going to "give out" you should plan to see an orthopedist, especially if it does not get better soon. You may need bracing, an injection, pt, or surgery depending on severity of injury. ...Read more

Minimize the amount of carbohydrate (bread, soda, alcohol, pasta, potatoes, corn); maximize the amount of fiber (vegetables) and protein (lean meat, beans) in your diet. At the same time exercise (walk, run, bike, swim). ...Read more

Not Really....: Wrapping yourself in Saran wrap isn't the best ideal to lose weight. The occlusion of the skin increases temperature, causes more sweating and forces you to lose water weight. The problem is you have to replace the fluids from the sweating, so it has a 0 net effect. I have eaten a small amount of aluminum accidentally (from food wrapping). What will happen to me?
No worries: The small amount you consumed shouldn't be a problem. Aluminum is one of the most plentiful elements that we are exposed to. It is toxic so our bodies have mechanisms to clear it. It isn't a good idea to expose yourself to more than necessary and especially don't cook in aluminum pans or use foil on acidic foods. One way to remove aluminum out of the body is to consume silicon rich water. ...Read more

Got chemical burns from cement and I'm now 3 weeks into it. What's best way to treat it now? I'm still using an ointment and guaze plus wrapping them.
Concrete burn: If the concrete burn site blistered and ulcerated or if there is continuing discharge of serous or bloody material or extensive reddening you should be evaluated and treated by a physician or wound clinic for best care and follow-up. However if you note continued improvement with your treatment, it would appear to be appropriate for healing a 2nd or 3rd degree burn unless there's a deep skin ulcer ...Read more

I sliced my finger with a mandolin and went to the er and they wrapped with gauze. Still bleeding after 2 days when I remove wrapping - that normal?
Should not still be: Bleeding 2 days later. Really hard to gage this without seeing it. Perhaps it should have had stitches, but that is impossible to say without an exam. But even a cut deep enough to have stitches should stop actively bleeding after 2days. On the other hand a drop or two of blood on the dressing is not unexpected. It all depends on how much blood there is, which again needs to be seen visually ...Read more

2nd degree burns: If it is not healing, needs to be evaluated by a medical provider. You did not finish your statement but I gather there is not progression of healing. An infection, a deeper second degree burn, edges of the burn that are escharotic or dry hard skin, conversion of a superficial 2nd degree burn to a deeper on due to wound issues, all needs to be addressed to allow healing and avoid complications. ...Read more

The swelling may be due to the wrap preventing appropriate circulation and fluid return in the lower leg. We call this edema. I would recommend that you see your primary care doctor for evaluation of your knee injury to rule out a sprain or tear in the supporting structures.
