Would Low Testosterone Levels Be The Reason I Am Getting More Emotional
Laboratory definition of low testosterone is a result below lower limit of normal reference range for that person's age & gender. Blood should be drawn in early morning (before 10am) w/2 abnormal results to support clinical definition of low t (hypogonadism) which may include low energy, loss of or inability to gain muscle, increase in abdominal fat, depression, cognitive ...Read more
As a 26 year old male who suffers from anxiety, can my low Testosterone levels be the cause? Last bloodwork showed 306. Readings last year even lower
No: They are not related to kidney stones. ...Read more
Maybe: Sorry for being vague, but there isn't enough information to really answer this question. Low testosterone in men causes decreased libido, but if the problem is a poor erection, there could be problems in the blood vessels. If this is coming from a woman, there are many reasons for decreased libido, including vaginal atrophy from menopause, emotional distance from the partner, or depression. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Nothing unless . . .: Low testosterone is just a number. We don't treat numbers (aside from blood pressure, cholesterol & glucose). Instead, we treat patients. So if you're tired, fatigued, fat w/o muscle despite diet & exercise, no sex drive w/erectile dysfunction, can't think clearly, and depressed, you might have hypogonadism which might be cured by increasing your t (beware some rx might affect sperm production). ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Not necessarily....: Generally, symptoms (such as fatigue, low muscle mass, low libido, etc.) are primary drivers of whether most people need to replace testosterone. Lots of options: First, let's be clear. We don't treat just b/c t is low. Patient also has to have constellation of symptoms, eg andropause or hypogonadism. Once established that treatment is indicated, options include patch (skin vs gum), cream/gel/lotion, pellet implant & injections. However, all these options are various forms of t and will shut down sperm production. If you want to father children, avoid this. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Pituitary or testes?: In general, one can think of low testosterone as either being due to dysfunction in the pituitary ("master gland"), or the testes themselves. Checking pituitary hormones (prolactin, lh, fsh) can distinguish between these two categories, and let your doctor determine whether scanning is needed. Illness and narcotic drugs will alter pituitary function, while alcohol injures the testes to cause low t. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Another tricky Q: By livelihood i assume you mean salary or some productivity measure at work. Earlier this year, my cousin pointed out that wall street traders were looking for t supplementation to boost their performance (http://bit.Ly/xqjexf). A few years ago, a study purportedly demonstrated that t affects risk taking behavior in wall street traders. In sum, low t might decrease (work) performance. ...Read more
I have very low testosterone level and I am only 22. Pleasesuggest me any medicine that can help me increase its level. Also, how much time will it take?
What's the cause?: A 22 yo male should not have a "very low testosterone level." this is highly unusual and is caused by something. You need to see your doctor and determine why this is happening. Once the cause is found, you will have a better idea of how to treat it correctly. Worst thing for you to do right now is to go on testosterone replacement. You will just be masking a symptom and not treating the cause. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
