The gallbladder is a sac-like structure located under the right lobe of the liver. It is attached to the common bile duct via the cystic duct. Impossible to know: The risk of hysterectomy at the time of cesarean section is normally less with a planned surgery than 1 done in labor. The most common reasons for needing a hysterectomy are bleeding or a problem with the placenta like an accreta (placenta grown into uterine wall). Talk to your doctor and get the explanation for what happened. That might make it easier to deal with. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Any time ...: After usual uncomplicated varicocele surgery through either laparoscopy or open procedure should not affect bowel movement although general anesthesia or laparosscopic maneuvers on the bowls may occasionally slow down the bowels for 1-2 days. Yet, such effect may widely vary among men. So, you may have BM anytime... More? Ask your surgeon. ...Read more
Short answer is yes: There are a percentage of surgeries that require reoperation due to the either progression of the disease process or limitation of the surgical procedure itself. If the gerd is recurrent, it may be due to these progressions but previous surgery would not preclude reintervention. Previous surgery does make the subsequent surgeries more complex. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Can a person have gastric bypass or a lap band if they have had a nissen fundoplication? I am just curious if I am a candidate
Technically, : Technically, yes, you can have bariatric surgery after a nissen fundoplication. A previous nissen fundoplication for gastroesophageal reflux disease (gerd) will make bariatric surgery more difficult and put you at higher risk for certain complications such as stomach injury and leak. A gastric bypass would be the most effective procedure that would also treat gerd. If you are pursuing bariatric surgery, you should let your surgeon know up front that you have had this type of procedure and make sure they would be willing to do your surgery. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
My doctor has referred me for surgery for a large gallbladder sluge and if I have had an appendectomy will it prevent me from laproscopic surgery?
I had a robotic assisted total hysterectomy a week ago. I was given a bowel prep. I still haven't had a movement. When should I worry?
BM after surgery: Having a bowel movement after surgery depends on many factors. A bowel prep and pain medicine will both certainly make your bowels move slowly. As long as you are doing well, passing flatus, and don't feel constipated, i would give it some time. If you feel constipated, there are many over the counter laxatives. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

What do you advise if i had to have a laparoscopic surgery on my stomach when i was will be able to have the laparoscopic surgery, or just one large incision?
Laparoscopy: Not entirely clear what you are asking, however your surgeon should be able to answer that question the best; laparoscopy has come a long way, and many surgeons are very fascile... It has proven great advantages over the 'large incision' surgeries in many fields, but remember that the final outcome eventually counts, regardless of the technique used... Best of luck! ...Read more
I have had 7 abdominal surgies including 2 c-sections. Now I have to have a hysyerectomy. No cancer. Should I have an open incision for better sight?
Upto you: It is upto you , as you already have multiple abominal surgeries, open surgery is ok . But laporoscopic surgery is better if possible ( some times scar tissue , adhesions will not allow ) it not just the scar , you recover quicker than open surgery, and resume normal activities at a earlier time. ...Read more

Can you get ovarian cyst after a partial hysterectomy?I had a trans-vaginal, & trans-abdominal ultra sound, now I was told I had to get a CT scan
Yes: About 10% of women with hysterectomy with the ovaries left in will need surgery for cysts (not always cancer). Ultrasound and MRI are best for evaluating the ovaries, but ct is sometimes used in preoperative evaluation. If that is the case, your doctor may be worried about cancer. Make sure a gynecologic oncologist is involoved before going to surgery. ...Read more
