Would advanced colon cancer show up on a CT scan of my abdomen ? Reg CT scan not virtual colonoscopy.

Imaging/biopsy: The imaging modality of ct scan could show findings that would be concerning for cancer, mass around your colon, enlarged lymph nodes in the same area. However, the diagnosis is made at biopsy, a piece of the mass under the microscope of a pathologist. Often the ct scan leads to the biopsy. Can a CT scan of the abdomen/pelvis without contrast detect colon cancer and ulcers?

CT Scan Findings: Ct scan is not the best study to detect colon cancer or ulcers. Although a ct scan may show a large sized colon cancer, the sensitivity of this is greatly reduced without the administration of oral contrast. Ulcers are typically not seen on ct scan. The best diagnostic study for both of these would be an endoscopy and colonoscopy. ...Read more

Wouldnt a blood test or cat scan show stomach or colon cancer.?

Would a cat scan a month ago show advanced colon cancer? Been having weakness weight loss last few weeks and i hear you don't get symptoms till advnc

Depends: It depends on what you mean by advanced. If you mean spread to other organs, usually it will. If you mean advanced within the colon itself. Not unless it was really large. I've noticed that you seem to be asking a lot about colon cancer. If you have had a clear colonsocopy, you should be in the clear. ...Read more

Ct Scan (Definition)

Ct scan uses data from a beam of xrays and reconstructs a cross sectional image of your body. It is a high dose of xrays and used only when the benefits outweigh the risk. Cancer risk is 1 in 500 in children. Also using iodinated contrast might cause transient renal failure in about 5% of patients. (contrast induced nepropathy) most do not explain this to the patient as ...Read more
