Would Adding Clonazepam To Methadone And Oxycontin Help My Pain Control
Methadone and oxycon: Firstly both Methadone and Oxycontin are long acting - i would ask why are you taking two long acting medications together. Secondly the use of benzodiazepines such as cloeazepam are not recommended with Methadone - there have been reported deaths from this combination. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

Can I use oxycodone to help the withdrawal from 17yrs of methadone use daily, my Goal is to be off methadone, I have tried suboxone but relapsed.
Would switching from xanax to Gabapentin help reduce my pain further from fibromyalgia but also help with withdrawals from benzodiazapine to help avoid seizures? Are they safe to take together in low doses otherwise?
What would give better pain relief, I am currently taking oxynorm immediate release 10mg and the doctors want to change it to oxycontin sr 10mg?
Depends on the dose.: Oxycodone is available in a long acting form called oxycontin. In that form the oxycodone is released over a period of time- between 8 and 12 hours- for most patients i see it is 8 hours. Oxycodone is also available in immediate release form which generally lasts for 4 hours. So an immediate release 15 mgm tablet every 4 hours would generally be equal to Oxycontin 30 mgm every 8 hours. ...Read more
I take oxycodone daily for back pain. Can i take a ssri in addition for anxiety/insomnia? The oxy might help with early side effects ssri's have to.
Antidepressants: Are becoming a mainstay in the treatment of many chronic pain conditions, even when depression is not recognized as a factor. Low back pain is one of the many conditions. Mechanism not fully understood. May increase neurotransmitters in the spinal cord that reduce pain signals. They dont work immediately. Ssri and tricyclic are commonly used. Talk to your pain physician before starting any drugs. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
My pm doctor wants to switch me from Methadone to Nucynta (tapentadol) for fibromyalgia pain relief. I'm also taking Cymbalta. I don't feel like Nucynta (tapentadol) will work ?
Research suggests: That use of narcotics in fibromyalgia may be a bad choice in the end and drugs such as Cymbalta, Savella, (milnacipran) and Lyrica offer better longterm success. Yet, the Methadone needs to be handled, and a better switch at this stage would involve suboxone. I agree with you, going to Nucynta may not be a wise decision. Try to see a pain specialist. ...Read more
My GP is weaning me off benzos too fast, having extreme rebound anxiety. Would Lyrica (pregabalin) be good support option, and Wellbutrin to reset GABA sensitivity?
No: Lyrica (pregabalin) is sodium channel blocker. It is widely used for both paroxysmal and continuous neuropathic pain conditions such as postherpetic neuralgia and diabetic neuropathy as well as trigeminal neuralgia and atypical odontalgia. Lyrica (pregabalin) has also been prescribed as a prophylactic headache medication, but has no anxiolitic properties. Talk to your physician for medication adjustment. ...Read more
Im suffering from lyrica (pregabalin) addiction for a year, a pharmacist adviced me to use Neurontin to get rid of lyrica (pregabalin) withdrawls. Would it really help?
Probably. : The drugs are very similar. Pregabalin (lyrica) has some habit forming potential that Neurontin (gabapentin) doesn't appear to have. We use both drugs to treat pain syndromes such as neuropathic pain, post-hermetic neuralgia; fibromyalgia, etc. Talk with your doctor about it. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Is it safe to wean off of 16mg Subutex and 1mg Klonopin simultaneously within a month? I also have Clonidine and Gabapentin to help with withdrawals.
Tapering off meds: I would consult with a psychiatrist/addiction specialist who can provide a specific plan for tapering off those medications as well as determine for you specifically whether it would be recommended to do so within the course of a month. It can be rather uncomfortable to come off those medications if the taper is done too quickly. ...Read more
Tapered to .66 Suboxone but relapsed on adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine). Would upping sub help or con to taper and on to vivitrol? Any advice. . . Thank you
More Suboxone?: It sounds like you might benefit from taking a higher dose of suboxone, but do not adjust your dose without first and always discussing with your prescribing physician. If your cravings for drugs were less on more suboxone, you may need an increase. Suboxone is not a cure. You probably need and could benefit from regular attendance at support group meetings like na. Your not ready for vivitrol. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Just started lyrica (pregabalin) 75mg weaning off Neurontin 300mg 4 tabs a day what can I expect if any for side effects in the weaning process?
Slow taper: Taper the neurontin (gabapentin) slowly, under the guidance of your neurologist. The slower your taper, the less likely you are to experience side effects, which can include tremor, irritability, agitation, anxiety, tachycardia, diaphoresis, confusion, disorientation, catatonia, and status epilepticus. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/722526_1 ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
No it won't: I agree with dr. Fowler that trying to detox yourself from opiates is a really bad idea. Also, benzodiazepines have no cross-tolerance with opiates -- so no, they won't help with opiate withdrawal symptoms. Please see either your own doctor or an addiction medicine physician. The latter than also help you get more support than pills alone. Be well. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
