Prolonged wound drainage may be an indication of a cyst or suture abscess for infection of permanent sutures used to repair the diastasis. If this does not respond to a course of antibiotics, removal of the suture could be a simple solution to your problem. ...Read more

It depends: I perform a significant number of tummy tucks (witch hazel) each year for my young mothers and feel that this is a great procedure when done by a qualified plastic surgeon with experience in this area.

Can hyperlordosis of the spine occur if the stomach muscles were tightened too much during a tummy tuck?

Can hyperlordosis of the spine occur if the stomach muscles were tightened too much during a tummy tuck?

Doubtful: It's very unlikely that tightening of the rectus muscles during a tummy tuck will cause changes in the curvature of the spinal column. During this procedure, we suture fascia to fascia and this connective tissue can only hold so much tension before it tears. As such, it would be highly unlikely that there would be enough tension to actually cause this effect. ...Read more

Can a mini tummy tuck help me have smoother stomach, tighter skin? I have loose skin and separated abdominal muscles from two pregnancies. I am really embarrassed by the way they look. Can a mini tummy tuck help me get a smoother stomach back?

Maybe?: Generally, the mini tummy tuck is an  operation that  produces very limited results and is very rarely indicated. It involves a shorter incision but does not address the majority of the abdominal wall issues present for most patients who present consultation, after pregnancy and/or weight gain/loss. Seek consultation with well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons for more precise advice. ...Read more
