Would a carrot and celery diet be beneficial to my weight and overall health?

Would a carrot and celery diet be beneficial to my weight and overall health?

No: Extreme diets are not helpful in the long run and may be dangerous on the short term. There is little to no protein in a diet consisting of just carrots and celery. Consult your doctor or a dietician or a nutrionist. ...Read more

Hello, I eat 1 apple, 1 orange, 1 tomato , 1 carrot, 1 egg and 1 stalk celery everyday. Do I have excessive vitamin A in my diet?

Definitely NO: The only one of those foods that has ANY Vitamin A is eggs and 1 egg has only 8% the recommended daily intake of Vitamin A. Vitamin A is only found in foods of animal origin. Fruits and vegetables contain Beta Carotene, which our bodies can convert to Vit A as needed, but which NEVER cause excess Vitamin A no matter how much of them you eat. ...Read more

Sounds yummy: I trust you are not adding a lot of sugar. This has vitamins and minerals and the key is that you are eating this instead of the salty / sugary / greasy stuff most people overeat. There's no magic in the fruits and vegetables, but it's a great choice and a move toward a healthier lifestyle generally. ...Read more

What besides carrots, celery, and iceberg lettuce are healthy, minimal calorie snacks? Any other suggestions?

Stop!!!!: Hi, please do not overload on low calorie snacks. That doesn't work! lots of low cal carbs are digested rather quickly; leaving you hungry so stop. By eating less food you will shrink your stomach in a way, so consider a higher protein, lowish carb , low-mod fat eating plan. You will feel more full, less hungry, more satisfied; therefore less likely to want to eat more calorie laden food! ...Read more

I have various strange allergies to things such as celery, carrots, apples, what to do?

Eliminate from diet: People with pollen allergy also have mouth itching from eating fresh celery, carrots and apples. This is due to the similar protein in the pollen. Typically birch pollen and apples are connected; weeds (like sage brush) is linked to celery and carrots. If the only symptoms are mild mouth itching (no GI or breathing issues), these foods when cooked at high temps can be tolerated. See allergist. ...Read more

On a diet with lots of veg like carrots, lettuce, snap peas, and a bit of corn, with 2 tbsp of hummus do you think this will help me lose weight?

On a diet with lots of veg like carrots, lettuce, snap peas, and a bit of corn, with 2 tbsp of hummus do you think this will help me lose weight?

Yes but add protein: Eating mostly veggies is a great way to lost weight but it's important to get adequate protein. 2 tbsp of hummus has no more than 2 grams of protein. Most people need 30-50 grams of protein a day. Consider other beans/nuts/seeds, much more hummus or adding a protein powder such as hemp seed, rice, pea or whey protein powder.
