Not very successful: There were medicines made for dissolving gallstones, but they were not very successful, so doctors recommended removing the gall bladder. A G.I. Ursodiol: There are only small studies that have been done in regards to ursodiol's effectiveness in treating fatty liver disease. I am not sure which type of fatty liver disease you have, since there are 2 types. There are positive results in reduction of fatty liver and some improvement of liver enzymes. There is no: Proven benefit of ursodeoxy cholic acid in PSC other than possibly improving liver enzyme abnormalities. It does not improve symptoms , long term risk for progression , death or need for liver Transplant. It does in PBC, a different condition. No : The treatment for mild alcoholic hepatitis involves only abstinence from alcohol - and possibly diet as well, including modest amounts of protein and adequate vitamins, including at least 50 mg of b1 (thiamine) and 0.4 mg of Folic Acid per day.
