Not Uncommon: Obviously age, previous back problems or other musculoskeletal problems could make the fall more serious. Doubt fracture of the spine unless pain excruciatating. Most likely muscle sprain/strain/bruise. Also head injury needs to be watched for. Watch for any headaches, vision changes, nausea or vomitting, or any other neurological complaints. Not achilles.: Sounds like a good bruise from getting hit wiith the hardball. There is little tissue covering the tibia so not much protection there from injury. Ice followed by heat would be a good way of clearing this up. ...Read more

Cervical spine.: Two thoughts. (1) could be muscular strain from moving the furniture. (2) the numbness in the fingers makes me think there may be some cervical spine disc swelling from the effort. YES!: Gentle stretching can actually speed up and improve the healing of sore, knotted muscles. Try not to overdo it with painful stretches or bounce around while stretching, but gentle stretches a few times a day will loosen spasm and contraction in sore muscles after a workout. Sure, be gentle: Muscles in our body contract when used. They can cramp up from overworking, as can be seen with exercise. Ice initially for a couple of days followed by heat and gentle stretching and massage along with antiinflammatories can be helpful. Do not exercise or stretch aggressively as this will only further injure the sore muscles. If pain persists see an orthopedist. Feel better! ...Read more
