When can I take my baby off a formula?

When can I take my baby off a formula?

Typically at one: It is often recommended to change from baby formular to regular milk at around 12 months. Some folks start a bit earlier and some later, but one year is the usual mark. Some change to whole milk, but others change to 2%--i personally think 2% is appropriate for most kids because we have so much fats from other sources. Consult doc if u have more concerns. My 3-month-old breastfed baby won't take a bottle. Are there some special bottles or nipples he might take?

My 3-month-old breastfed baby won't take a bottle. Are there some special bottles or nipples he might take?

Experiment: You may have to try different types. Also, your baby may resist taking the bottle from you. He smells your breast milk and may be confused by the plastic bottle. Have dad or a grandparent give the bottle, and you get a break for a while. If the baby is hungry, he will probably take the bottle better from them. ...Read more

Will a child continue to use a pacifier until I take it away from him?

Will a child continue to use a pacifier until I take it away from him?

Not necessarily: Infants may use & abandon a pacifier depending on their degree of attachment & availability of interesting alternatives. I have had kids that never took to one and some that carried one about until preschool.Sudden removal confuses a todler who wonders why they are being punished, or why mommy took my best buddy away. The wounded trust may last a lifetime. Reduce paci time gradually & they toss it. ...Read more

How long should I wait to breastfeed if I took alka seltzer plus? (night time) It has 500 mg aspirin! How long will it take to be out of my breastmilk

Wouldn't worry: If baby is otherwise healthy I would continue to feed and just avoid aspirin in the future. We don't like to expose kids with any viral illness because of its association with Reye syndrome under those conditions. Otherwise it is just there, and a relative transfer of 2-10% occurs. If sick, pump and dump for 8 hours and it should be fine thereafter. ...Read more

I just bought Colin cleansing pills and on the bottle it says to take them right before bed. Would it be a big deal if I took them at a different time?

I don't think: it matters when you take them as I feel they are a big waste of money. The colon is a one way disposable system and has no ability to store anything. It has no need of cleansing unless we are going to look inside for a study. ...Read more
