Will GNC womens ultra nutrition active multivitamin interfere with my bc trivora 28 (ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone)?
Multivitamins: I couldn't find exactly what you've written in gnc's products, to check on ingredients. The closest thing i saw was: gnc women's ultra mega® active. This one contains a few herbs (panax ginseng, gingko, green tea, etc) in addition to the vitamins, but nothing that should conflict with your birth control pills. http://tinyurl.com/6no53xd. ...Read more
Which birth control is low cost without insurance? health dept wont give me a choice, ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) is too strong
No: But you are a victim of a fraud. If you must take a multivitamin you will derive exactly the same benefit [NONE] from a generic multivitamin at 1/10 the cost. I know I look stupid, but my nutrition comes from normal food. In fact there are thousands of nutrients in food never found in any pill. Don't be a sucker. Eat your vegetables. ...Read more
I'm 5'11" and weigh around 173 lbs. Does my weight lesson the effectiveness of my birth control pill (desogen (ethinyl estradiol and desogestrel) 28)?
Is there a difference between Ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) and sprintec? My new doctor switch me from sprintec to ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate).
Yes: Oral contraceptive pills have 2 hormones - a progesterone and an estrogen component. Sprintec is a monophasic pill ie the progesterone and estrogen components are fixed and does not vary with the last 7 pills hormone free (inert). Ortho tricyclen, the progesterone component increases weekly up to week 3, and the last 7 pills inert. I find that there is more break through bleeding with tricyclen. ...Read more

None: The only way to lose weight, keep it off, and stay healthy is to approach it sensibly. Eat more vegetables, fruits, grains, eggs, lean meats (in that order). Eat smaller amounts of the dense calorie-rich foods. Most people can eat as many vegetables as they want. Exercise- start slow if you're not used to it. See your doctor to make sure there isn't any medical problem complicating the process. ...Read more
Is there a lower risk for blood clots when taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo? Safer than Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol)? Can't seem to find how much hormone is in Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo
Clot risk: The risk of clot is slightly higher in YAZ (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) do due the type of progesterone in it. It has nothing to do with the dose really. If for example you had a clot on Ortho tri cyclen, no one would suggest you use tri cyclen lo instead. Blood clot risk also lowers after 3 months of use just like it does for menopausal women on hormone replacement therapy. Every OCP in the US is low dose except for one. ...Read more
Yes, but............: In the us, only formulations of conjugated estrogen with Methyltestosterone are available. My personal studies suggest that some women will experience an atherogenic profile taking these. Doctors can have dermal gels or ointments compounded that are inexpensive and these, if monitored, can be used safely. It is important to measure pre- and post- levels in a female to see if they are needed! ...Read more

Ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) and Mono liny Ah 28 are the same birth control pill? Just noticed that ortho was on my prescription and pharmacist gave me mono-liny
They both have the: same medications, but are slightly different. Ortho tri cyclen (ethinyl estradiol and norgestimate) has a slightly different amount of norgestimate each week and the same amount of ethinyl estradiol each week, as opposed to Mono-linyah, which has the same dose of both each of the 3 weeks. They both have a week of placebo for the 4th week. I would recommend speaking to your doctor to see if this substitution is OK with them. ...Read more
Is birth control induced hair thinning/ follicle miniturization reversible? If I switch from Loestrn Fe 1/20 to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo will that help?
Contraceptives- hair: Yes, it does, there is a genetic predisposition, oe even in patients who started before taking the pill. The American Hair Loss Association recognizes that for the most part oral contraceptives are a safe and effective form of birth control. The AHLA also recognizes that the "pill" has been clinically proven to have other health benefits for some women who use them. However, with that said, the AHLA believes that it is imperative for all women especially for those who have a history of hair loss in their family to be made aware of the potentially devastating effects of birth control pills on normal hair growth. The American Hair Loss Association recommends that all women interested in using oral contraceptives for the prevention of conception should only use low-androgen index birth control pills, and if there is a strong predisposition for The genetic hair loss in your family we recommend the use of another non-hormonal form of birth control. ...Read more
