My urethral opening is swollen with a red dot in center. No itching, burning. No sex in 2 yrs. I'm 62 yr. Old female. Cause for concern?
Urethritis.: Do you have painful urination? Infection of urethra is the most common cause of urethritis (swelling of urethra). Cancer of urethra is rare. Blood in the urine, frequent urination, urethral discharge, enlarged glands in the groin are present. Risk factors for cancer are history of bladder cancer, being 60 yrs and older, white female, chronically red, swollen urethra. Consult your gynecologist very soon.
Is the female genitalia supposed to have 2 openings besides the anus? Because I only have the very narrow opening which I assume to be the urethra.
Normal anatomy: Yes normal female anatomy includes urethra, vagina and anus. If you are able to urinate you have a functioning urethra. You may not have an opening to your vagina or in rare cases the vagina can be absent. Please see a board certified ob/gyn for an exam.See 1 more doctor answer

Here are some. ..: The color of urethral opening alone should not be taken as a sign of urethral cancer especially for a 22-yr female like you as long as being comfortable and having no bleeding and palpable induratiion there or its vicinity. Of course, if still in doubt, see a gyn-doc for more detailed Hx, physicals etc. For confirmation.

Urethral Pain: Hello JessaraeB. I would recommend seeing a doctor so that they can examine your vaginal area to check for injury or inflammation at the urethral opening. Sometimes trauma can occur in that area accidently from wiping or sex. Also, certain infections other than urinary tract infections can cause pain in that area as well. Best wishes.
Is it normal for a 2yr old female's urethra opening to seal off allowing a small amount if urine to pass? Dr only gave hydrocortisone cream.
Labial fusion: It's not the urethra that's sealed, it's likely the labia in front of the urethra that are fused together. This is actually pretty common. It becomes a problem when, as you described, it obstructs the flow of urine. When this happens a mild steroid or hormone cream can be used to gently open the labia and remove the obstruction.
Natural Healing: The good news is that area has fantastic blood supply and so healing will occur rapidly. Inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling) is the body increasing the blood flow to the injury to bring healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. Dressings and ointments are of no value there. Avoid further trauma to the area and let nature take it's course.
Yes: Urethral trauma can occur resulting in tearing, lacerations, and dilation.
Urologist: Get an evaluation by a urologist. Chances are a previous doctor like a pediatrician has already seen the problem and decided it was okay.See 1 more doctor answer
Men & women: Urethra is the urinary passage, i.e. Urine flows thru it when people urinate. It is a short 1 1/2 inch tube in women located just in front of vagina when standing or sitting. It is much longer in men & passes thru the penis. It is also the passage for semen during ejaculation.See 1 more doctor answer
Urethritis: A urinalysis and check for chlamydia/gc should be done to investigate it, but it could be because you are fortunate to have an active sex life. The wives would get this after their husbands were gone for a deployment when I was in the service. Perhaps be grateful for what you can complain about.See 1 more doctor answer
I have a growth that is attached to the inside of my urethra and it sticks out the urethral opening about a mm.
Generic term: "growth " is a far too generic term for the internet/this forum. A doctor needs to know size, duration, consistency, color, borders, physical characteristics, point of origin and your history. A photo is ok, but physical examination is best. Please see your doctor for any lesion/abnormality for best info. Good luck.
I have a long and thin piece of flesh like a rope connected to my urethral opening, I was born with it. Is it normal?
Have it checked: The only way to know is to have the doctor check you and let you know if it is normal.
Hello. I have a 4 years old and recently I have noticed she has her urethra opening a little bit black or dark. Is it a problem?
Be checked...: Did she had history of possible injury of any causes? Has she complain of any local discomfort at any time especially at peeing? If nothing, you may watch and see if this little dark area may change in its degree and size. If okay, it could be just watched as suggested. If not or still in doubt of any degree, seek evaluation by following those in http://sick-ask. Com/onDealSickness. Html. Best wish
