Woke up yesterday with bad pain/stiffness around rt. shoulder blade, worse lying down. Today spread down right arm, finger, and rt. neck. Wait it out?
Having pains in left hand that shoots up left arm started when i woke up this morning. Progressively getting worse.
Hopefully : Hopefully your symptoms are now improving. If it is related to neurologic dysfunction then the most likely explanation would be a nerve root injury from the neck. If that is so then a few further questions are necessary: •what activities and head positions increase or decrease symptoms? This information can be helpful for both diagnosis and treatment. •when did the injury occur, what was the mechanism of injury, and what was done at that time? I know you said that you woke up with the pain but perhaps did you do something the day before which could have elicited the pain? •have you experienced previous episodes of similar symptoms or localized neck pain? Do you have other neurologic symptoms such as pins and needles, numbness, or weakness? •what previous treatments (prescribed or self-selected) have you tried? These may include: â—¦the use of ice and/or heat â—¦medications (eg, acetaminophen, aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs [nsaids]) â—¦physical therapy, traction, or manipulation â—¦injections â—¦surgical treatments. •a social history should include your activities and hobbies to look for any potential source of the problem. As far as the cause for a radiculopathy, compression may be from a disc herniation, degenerative changes about the neural foramen, or a combination of the 2. A study in patients with cervical disc disease found that compression of a nerve root produced limb pain, whereas pressure on the disc produced pain in the neck and medial border of the scapula. Thus you should seek a neurologic consultation to figure out the source of your problem and determine the plan of action. Good luck and i wish you well. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Pinched nerve: Neck pain that runs down the arm or shoulder with or without numbness and tingling sounds like a pinched nerve in the neck.
