Doctor insights on:
Within Min Eating
I periodically get severe diarrhea within 15 mins of eating spaghetti. Never happens with homemade, always old-school Italian restaurants.
Spaghetti: I am not an expert on spaghetti but it sounds like you are sensitive to an ingredient used in restaurant spaghetti. It sounds like you may have to leave it off your menu. Make sure you hydrate when this occurs.
I always have severe stomach cramps whenever I eat. It doesn't matter what I eat, within 10 min of eating the cramps will start. What should I do?
If you have: These problems with each meal you need to check w/your doctor and get a referral to a gastroenterologist for diagnosis and treatment.
Every time I eat despite it being a small bland meal or drink anything, I get extreme tiredness and slight nausea 30 within 30 mins after eating.
Every time I eat despite it being a small bland meal or drink anything, I get extreme tiredness and slight nausea 30 within 30 mins after eating.?
Had Perilymph Fistula Patching on ear a year ago. Since then have had intense tinnitus in that ear within 10 min of eating salty/sweet foods. Hydrops?
Tinnitus: You need to be evaluated by the ENT who did your surgery. They will have your history, knowledge of your procedure and should be in the best position to help you.
Within 10 mins of eating I get bad flatulence and an urge to open my bowels. Also often stomach is noisy. Symptoms for 1 yr. Stools often loose. Ideas?
You are: "experiencing" a heightened "gatro-colic" reflex... when the stomach receives food a hormonal output affects the colon. ..its called gastro (stomach) colic (colon) reflex. It is normal but YOURS is EXAGGERATED! This is seen in IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), however this is a diagnosis only made after some testing is done! BTW your symptoms once explained are VERY Treatable! Hope this helps Dr Z
I have hp able to control it with reducing salt exercise 30 min a day lost 10 pounds eating veggies only BP 115/71/77 do I still need to take pill?
Possibly: You should review this with your primary care. As you are right, with your lifestyle interventions, you may be able to stop your medications and still have reasonable blood pressure measurements.
Soo hungry and eating like a pig and tired all of a sudden for past few days, not like me, thought was over tired but just hungry every min?
I took two bc pills yesterday at night after 20 min af/eating. Around 940pm. I vomited the food around 230am. Did my pills go down with the food?
GI Absorption of BCP: You did not indicate the brand of your birth control pills or the kind of food eaten. Birth control pills are readily absorbed in the GI tract (gastrointestinal tract) quickly. You took your pills 20 minutes after eating as you instructed. You vomited food about 4 hours later. It is safe to assume that even though you vomited food, the contents of the bcps was most likely already absorbed.
Exercising 2-3 hours a day. 1 hour spin class. 1 hour weights/conditioning 30-60 min swim. I have OCD and maybe eating issue. Is it bad? How to stop?
See a psychiatrist: Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a serious but treatable condition. If you are doing everything that you say above in one workout, that is too much and at some point more exercise is counterproductive, especially with your health problems. See your primary care physician about the safety of your workout routine. You would benefit from diagnosis and treatment, SSRI medications and CBT often help.
I've been eating 1700 cal and working out 4-5 times a week for 30 min, is this enough to lose a pound as week?
3500 calories/1lb: You have to cut down 3500 calories in your diet to loose one pound if you cut down 500 calories per day, you will loose 1 pound in on week, and approx 4 lbs in a month your weight loss is based on extra calories you burn by exercising plus the calories you reduce in your diet so calculate for yourself, if you are negative 3500 cals per week, it will take 30 weeks.
Noticing extreme increase in visual body fat. Hardly eating, 45 min cardio, work all day, healthy when I do eat. Not basing this off of a scale. Help!
Decrease carbs: Most people are surprised at how few calories are actually needed to maintain a healthy weight, even with exercise. There are a number of free apps for your phone that can help you understand how little you actually need to eat. Also a lot of people eat things they think are healthy, but are actually full of sugar, like granola bars, fruit juice and flavored yogurts. Become a label reader.
Having left side headacke when eating, it w mostly when I miss lunch but now days during eating then it get lost after min? I'v also sinusitis?
Multiple reasons: Having a sinus infection can make eating and a headache worse. Hopefully you've seen somebody for the sinus infection as sometimes antibiotics are needed if it is bacterial. Please see your doctor for more answers.
Pain- hard to explain- about 1-2 inches right of belly button. Occurs for few mins, once-twice weekly for two months now. Happens without eating too.
Abdominal pain: Given the info you've provided, recurrent abdominal pain is not uncommon and often benign. Irritable bowel syndrome (ibs) is a diagnosis of exclusion, so we can't say this is ibs without a more detailed workup. But my best advice is to keep a good diary of the "triggers" that cause the pain. E.G., is it associated with stress? Is it more often in the morning or after certain types of foods, etc.
Was eating spinach almost daily for months. Thought was perfect food. Now hear is high in oxalates and these mean calcium, vit/min not absorbed. True?
It's not: I am sorry you follow for the "perfect food" stuff. Oxalate will not hurt you if you are healthy. Iron in spinach is bound to Phytates and is not available. Food choices are not the key to health despite all the silly stuff online. No food choice will benefit you as much as eating sensibly and exercising consistently and intensely. Glad you want to be healthy -- be discerning
What would cause a brief sharp pain in upper abdomen10 to 15 min after eating lasts about 3to5 sec happens a couple of times then goes away concerned?
Fleeting pains: Such very fleeting but Sharp pains after eating may simply be transient gas pains especially if you have absolutely no abdominal distress the rest of the time. Concerning symptoms would be more lasting discomfort, tenderness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, black or bloody stools. If symptoms persist or worsen consult your physician or a gastroenterologist for evaluation.
I lost around 15 lbs with proper diet (1200 cal approx) and exercise cardio+strength 40 to 60 min. However, now I am not losing weight or inches. What could be wrong? I need to lose fat! I count calories and avoid eating unhealthy foods. Please help!
Weight loss: You have reached a plateau and just need to keep on. I would use myfitnesspal to track calories in and out and lower till you start to lose weight again.
Why am I always hungry? I drink a lot of water. I eat something and am full for a min and then I can keep eating and I don't gain the weight.
Diabetes mellitus: Polyphagia, or increased hunger, is a common sign of diabetes mellitus. Increased thirst can also be a common sign. Please consult your family medicine physician to follow up on these symptoms. He/she will be able to check your blood glucose and HbA1c to rule in/out this diagnosis.
After eating/drinking I will start retching for about a min. Why is this? Nothing hurts. It's been happening over a year now. Sweet is the worse.
Retching: It is possible you may have acid reflux. Consult your doctor for evaluation.
My question is why do I feel Hungrier after I finish eating, or alternatively I have also experienced excessive hunger only 30 mins after eating?
Prediabetes/Diabetes: Or impaired glucose metabolism commonly causes a person to feel hunger even when they should not. Hunger is a powerful motivator and very difficult to overcome, therefore this often causes people to gain weight. There are medications available to specifically treat this problem. Consider a glucose tolerance test, especially if diabetes runs in your family.See 1 more doctor answer
