Can be many: Research suggests that a cannabis withdrawal syndrome exists. Symptoms include; restlessness, anorexia, irritability and insomnia that begin less than 24 hours after discontinuation of marijuana, peak in intensity on days 2 to 4, and last for seven to 10 days. My friend is 25 and asked me today if he had been drinking everyday for 4 months if withdrawals were a risk. I want him to quit but safely.?
What a + friend!: This is so nice of you and it will help him to have a caring person. Without knowing the amounts and his general health and other details, it's hard to assure his safety if he stops cold-turkey w/o medical monitoring. If possible, I'd urge a doctor's visit to get advice based on an exam of his general health. Having a medical ally and perhaps a therapy referral is good security. Best wishes! ...Read more

I tapered from 150 to 37.5 of Effexor (venlafaxine) and then quit 5 days ago. How long will withdrawal last?
Varies a lot: Most people taper Effexor (venlafaxine) over a week or two, & are fine after that. But many need to go more slowly. If you still have withdrawal (discontinuation syndrome) 5 days after stopping 37.5, then the taper to 37.5 was too fast, or you're especially sensitive to discontinuation. Talk to your prescriber about continuing 37.5 a few more weeks, & maybe taper further by dividing those 37.5s. ...Read more
