Got hit in my face 3-4 days ago. Now have black eye. Bleed a bit from the nose then stop. Now see mucus/salive with small blood through mouth split. Er?

Nose or eye: There could be two reasons for this finding. First is that the trauma that you sustained could have also caused damage to the inner lying tissues of the nose or it can be due to the fact that the nasolacrimal duct which drains tears from our eye is draining blood from the eye. Either way you must see an ophthalmologist to get thoroughly examined. ...Read more

Need an eye exam. : It's prudent that you get examined by an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. The small red spot that you are describing sounds like a sub conjunctival hemorrhage which is due to a blood vessel that was damaged under the white membrane of the eye. In itself it's not dangerous but trauma to the eye may be associated with glaucoma, retinal tear, blood in the anterior chamber known as hyphema, etc. ...Read more

I was working today and our store is super cold. I was blowing my nose because I'm already sick and there was blood. Why did I get a nose bleed?

Cold response: Your nose functions to warm the air you breathe before it reaches the lungs. When the air is colder, the nasal vessels become dilated to improve your ability to do this. That also tends to send other fluids into the soft tissues of the nose, leading to increased secretion, runniness. With dilated superficial blood vessels and the trauma of blowing, you get epistaxis, a fancy word for a bloody nose! ...Read more

I : I am very concerned about your symptoms. I would like you to see a neurologist and have a complete evaluation of your symptoms. Your symptoms sound somwhat like a concussion, but the duration is very concerning and you need a full neurological evaluation. If you are having this severe of symptoms then you should not be participating in any type of sports until you are cleared.

In addition, you should see your ENT doctor again to re-evaluate your persistent injury. But seeing the neurologist is most important at this time.

If you have worsening headache, visual changes, vomiting, weakness or numbness then you will have to be seen as an emergency. ...Read more

I nose bleed sometimes, I get head aches too and sometimes I pass out for a few seconds when I stand up. Could it be a brain tumor?

Extremely unlikely: I see thousands of patients a year and the two most feared conditions are a brain tumor or cancer. My 6 year old just had a nose bleed for no reason and quite a lot of bright red blood she has a hole in her hear and di george? Should I go hospital

Did it stop?: Kids get nosebleeds all the time. It always looks like a lot of blood because the nasal passages are very vascular. Dry air makes the superficial vessels more likely to bleed. No reason to go to hospital for this if bleeding stopped regardless of digeorge. If she has symptoms of low calcium that would be a reason to go to the hospital, though shouldn't cause nose bleed. ...Read more

If it still persists and it is troubling you, you should see an ENT for further evaluation. ...Read more
