Acne: Your doctor may be able to help you with prescribing a antibiotic/acne medicated body wash as well as retin-a. This will help address the 3 ways that lead to acne - oil production, clogged pores, and bacteria. You may also try to wear lose fitting clothing particularly during activities with high perspiration. Read more

How can I use witch hazel for hemorrhoids?

How can I use witch hazel for hemorrhoids?

Alcohol-free kind: There are many witch hazel products, but you want an alcohol-free one for hemorrhoids or it will burn. Thayer's has several kinds that you can get at health food stores -- I've even seen the pads for sale on amazon. Com. You simply apply the pads several times daily, & after wiping/cleansing after each bowel movement. The liquid can be put on a cotton ball and dabbed in the same way. Read more

Has anyone ever used witch hazel on stasis dermatitis?

Has anyone ever used witch hazel on stasis dermatitis?

Probably: I'm sure someone has, since it seems to have been tried on virtually everything by someone. However, stasis dermatitis is caused by sluggish blood flow in the veins of the legs due to breakdown of valves in those veins; witch hazel is not going to have any effect on that. See a dermatologist for an effective treatment plan. Read more

Is tea tree oil or witch hazel more effective for getting rid of zits?

Is tea tree oil or witch hazel more effective for getting rid of zits?

Neither works well: Both will disappoint you. This is the 21st century, you've worked hard, and you have a right to someting effective. I start with topical Clindamycin with or without a retinoic acid derivative. If this isn't enough, add oral Erythromycin or tetracycline as appropriate for the person. Dermatologists have even stronger stuff. Good luck. Read more

11d post vasectomy. Alternating percocet, Advil (ibuprofen) 400mg, & taking herbal baths (uva ursi, marigold, witch hazel). Is pain/swelling normal for this long?

Highly variable...: Post-vasectomy pain/swelling varies greatly from virtually painless with no swelling to severely painful with a huge swelling; the degree and frequency of such wide variation seems reflecting surgeons' skill.. Nonetheless, such situation is acceptable as long as improving surely ; slowly day by day. How long does it take to resolve? Occasionally, maybe up to 2-4 weeks. So, wait and see, ;. .. Read more

Is it ok to use epiduo and witch hazel together?

Possibly.: Both are drying to the skin and can be irritating. So, although there is no absolute contraindication to using them together, you would need to be very cautious. If there is any sign of redness or irritation, I would stop them and consult your dermatologist/doctor who is prescribing the Epiduo. Also, it is probably not necessary to use the witch hazel if you are using the Epiduo. Read more
