Scapular winging: Treatment for scapular winging depends on cause. Complete diagnosis may require a test to see if the nerves to specific muscles are working. If muscles are simply weak, pt may be all that's needed. If nerve to muscle not working, muscle transfer may be required. For long thoracic nerve palsy, pec major transfer to scapula. It in of and of itself is not usually related to scoliosis. But, the first changes of scoliosis is a rotation of the vertebrae which causes a rib hump, also known as an asymmetric trunk rotation. Not likely: A true winged scapula is felt to be related to wekness in the muscles that anchor the shoulder blade to the trunk, often caused by chronic nerve compression.
