Yes: It will heal in a week. Does not matter what you put on it. If you get these a few times a year, protect lips and face from sun. There are sunscreen chapsticks. Valacyclovir 2 grams at the first symptoms(prodrome) of the next attack will turn it off. You must be prepared beforehand. There are no side effects. ...Read more

Not herpes: First, let's be clear on terminology. It's HSV2, not II (roman numerals). HSV2 is the virus, not the disease. Genital herpes can be caused by either HSV1 or 2, but HSV2 infrequently infects the mouth -- i.e. most people with genital HSV2 never get cold sores from it. Herpes doesn't cause "tingling and burning" without visible sores, and non-improvement on valacyclovir confirms it's not herpes. ...Read more
