Melatonin: Yes it will but it works best when taken 30-60 minutes before bed and also when you stay in a darkened environment prior to sleep. Not wise to do so: They could all work at cross purposes. While medications that are prescribed are designed to produce some regulation and stabilization of neurotransmitters, smoking pot pushes others. Not a great solution to insomnia at all. My Opinion: I can't prescribe, so this might seem biased - but when the word 'social' is part of the problem, I believe that it should be part of the solution too. A CBT or other good psychotherapist can often teach skills to help you do better throughout life. A lifetime of learning experiences seems like a winner compared to a lifetime of medication. Melatonin may: Melatonin may help you sleep. It's not a knock you out kind of pill or hormone. It works best if you take it and lay down in a dark room. It won't work very well if you're up and about in lighted areas.
