Not yet: Note yet, at least not with any degree of certainty. However, research is ongoing, looking at which species and strains of microorganisms might someday be able to re-colonize the vagina and prevent overgrowth by fungi (ie, Candida) or other microbes ("BV"). Please dont do that: Inserting yogurt or any other food into the vagina is not an effective treatment for a vaginal infection such as yeast or bacterial vaginosis. Over the counter yeast creams are available to treat this very common problem. It will be more effective to use one such as Monistat or Clotrimazole. Yogurt use: There is a prebiotic product called luvena (vaginal wipes). The wipes are not a treatment for candidiasis but do help vaginitis. The average yogurt you buy in the grocery store has dead cultures. Consider eating yogurt with live cultures or kefir. Yogurt with live cultures can be placed in the vagina (some say it helps but there is not clear research to back claims currently). ...Read more
Not a treatment: Putting yogurt in the vagina is not a good idea particularly if the yogurt has any sugar in it. Sugar could aggravate any vaginal infection. Be sure your infection is yeast as bacteria can cause vaginal discomfort and discharge as well.
