Fluid and blood pool: Varicose veins can cause pain when we are still due to pooling of fluid in veins and tissue. Elevation helps but takes time. It does not prevent occurrence of symptoms long term. Compression stockings can be real helpful on day to day basis to prevent pooling. Eventually may need vein ablation after a proper evaluation.
