Minimal: There is very little pain with a leep procedure. I do them in my office using a paracervical block which requires an injection on each side of the cervix. Most of my patients do not feel that injection. If I do the leep in the operating room, those patients have an I.V. Which does require a neele stick for its placement - still only a needle stick - minimal pain. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Depends: The answer to this question really depends on her diagnosis. I assume she has some sort of problem with her pap smear. Usually cervical issues, those conditions found in a pap test, dont require hysterectomy. The leep can be both diagnostic and treat most conditions involving her cervix, but she should consult her doctor as to why either procedure should be done. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

If you have had 1 preterm birth or more than 2 miscarriages in the past, then automatically you will be placed for cervical surveillance at 16 weeks. Hope this helps. ...Read more
