Will the alcohol in breath mints and mouthwash cause nausea if I am taking flagyl?

Will the alcohol in breath mints and mouthwash cause nausea if I am taking flagyl?

Not usually: There is such a small amount of alcohol in mints you should not have a problem. Mouthwash usually does contain alcohol, but you should be fine as long as you don't swallow it. I wouldn't worry about it. ...Read more

How can using mouthwash cool mint listerine (21.6% alcohol)as directed not drinking) cause a positive beathalyzer reading? Please explain in detail.

How can using mouthwash cool mint listerine (21.6% alcohol)as directed not drinking) cause a positive beathalyzer reading? Please explain in detail.

Alcohol: Alcohol absorbs through the tissues in your mouth. Every single drug screening or treatment program I know tells every single patient this and that this type of product is not acceptable if one is being tested for alcohol. Putting listorine into your mouth is the same as drinking alcohol. The taste alone often triggers patients back into relapse. ...Read more

Alcohol or non alcohol based mouthwash for bad breath?

Alcohol or non alcohol based mouthwash for bad breath?

Either: Both types of mouthwash are going to have agents in them that will kill bacteria that tend to cause bad breath. If you are aware of halitosis, be sure to brush your tongue well, especially toward the back. This is a common source for bad breath. Also be sure to get your teeth cleaned at the dentist if it has been a while. Mouthwash helps, but often just covers up the real problem. ...Read more

Is it ok to chew gum, eat breath mints, or use mouthwash after wisdom teeth extraction?

Is it ok to chew gum, eat breath mints, or use mouthwash after wisdom teeth extraction?

Would not: Follow your post-op instructions. I would assume that the dentist/oral surgeon recommended soft foods and no drinks through a straw. Chewing gum and breath mints are probably not a real good idea. ...Read more

Since becoming pregnant I have had bad breath. I brush over 10 times a day, use mouth wash and have mints on hand. And now have a bloodclot in my mouth?

Pregnancy Gingivitis: When is the last time you had a good, professional dental cleaning? Start with that (yes, it's ok to see your dentist even if you are pregnant). You may have calculus buildup which is irritating your gums, causing bleeding as well as halitosis. Explains blood clot and bad breath. All the mouthwash, mints, and brushing in the world will not solve your issues. ...Read more

Don't worry: Alcohol consumption has been linked to oral cancer. Heavy drinking and smoking together will greatly increase the chances of oral cancer.
Don't worry too much about using mouthwash. Even though there is alcohol in it you typically don't use enough to cause a problem. You can use an alcohol free mouthwash if you are concerned. ...Read more

Can flagyl and/or ciprofloxacin in combination with alcohol cause a higher breathalyzer reading and/or cause alcohol to remain in your system longer?

Can flagyl and/or ciprofloxacin in combination with alcohol cause a higher breathalyzer reading and/or cause alcohol to remain in your system longer?

Why do you ask?: Your doctor must have told you not to drink while you're taking flagyl. It's quite dangerous. And while you're on "Cipro", both alcohol and caffeine are best avoided. They won't actually raise the level. If you failed a breathalyzer, you need both a good lawyer and an eagerness to make sure that nothing like this ever happens again. Best wishes. ...Read more

Can flagyl or ciprofloxacin in combination with alcohol cause a higher breathalyzer reading and/or cause cause alcohol to remain in your system longer?

Worse: You should not be taking alcohol while on such medication. Even without being on medication, alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, stay away from it. Is benzethonium chloride a safe mouthwash to use to kill chronic bad breath caused by tonsil stones?

Probably not: That compound usually isn't used as a mouthwash, and if the bad breath is indeed caused by tonsil stones (tonsilliths), it probably won't work. See your local ent. If your bad breath is due to chronic tonsilliths, tonsillectomy may be the best answer. ...Read more

If alcohol drinking leads to oral cancer, then does this mean that using mouth wash also may cause cancer?

If alcohol drinking leads to oral cancer, then does this mean that using mouth wash also may cause cancer?

Good question: Alcohol, by itself, is not nearly as strong a risk factor for oral cancer as alcohol and smoking. Inflammation of the oral cavity can increase the risk of oral cancer. Most alcohol based mouth rinses are formulated not to irritate and therefore have significantly less of a carcinogenic effect. ...Read more

Taking Flagyl; I know no alcohol or soy sauce. Can I safely eat a pickle, or bbq sauce that contains distilled vinegar as an ingredient, tho?
