Neither: Your doctor may chose to treat or just watch the cyst (s) depending on their size and appearance. Danazol is used to treat the pain of endometriosis, not infertility. It is neither safe nor effective for fertility treatment. Laparoscopy is surgery and should not be the first treatment for infertility, unless the doctor wishes to treat the cyst. ...Read more

I have right ovarian cyst of size 4.5 x 3.6. do I have to surgery. Or taking danzol could reduce the size?

Ovarian cyst size: Depends on the type of cyst. Ovarian cysts can range from under 0.5 inches (1.27 cm) to more than 12 inches (30.48 cm). Ovarian cysts are particularly common during childbearing years. Many resolve spontaneously without treatment. The potential risks and benefits of any treatment should be carefully considered. No treatment is necessary unless symptoms outweigh potential risk of treatment. ...Read more

I was diagnosed with 5.2cm ovarian cyst and my doctor told me to take bc pills. Will these pills reduce the size of the cyst or stop its growth?

They will likely: Stop the growth. It is likely what we call a "simple cyst" which means it just has fluid, or a hemmorragic cyst with blood it it. It's not gonna be cancer but you will need follow up to ensure resolution. It will likely resolve on its own. Good luck. ...Read more

I have 6cm and 8 CM ovarian cysts. My gyn suggested laparoscopy. Can birth control pills help to reduce the size of the cysts? Other alternatives?

I have 6cm and 8 CM ovarian cysts. My gyn suggested laparoscopy. Can birth control pills help to reduce the size of the cysts? Other alternatives?

Unlikely: It is safe to take OCP for few months, but it is unlikely that they will help to reduce the cyst size. You have two alternatives-do nothing and wait or undergo surgery to remove the cyst. Not all cyst created equal-if cyst has complex appearance on sonogram, increasing in size, accompanied by pain, or elevated tumor markers such as CA-125 then it is more likely that woman will need surgery ...Read more

Could you tell me how to decrease size of ovarian cyst? Maybe endometrioma. I wanna try everything I can do before having another surgery. Am on pill.

Patience: Stay on the pill and give it time. If this is a "functional" cyst, it will go away over the course of a couple cycles. Stay on the pill in the meantime - you are doing everything right. ...Read more

My size of ovarian cyst is 4, 2cm stay the same size for one year do I need surgery?

My size of ovarian cyst is 4, 2cm stay the same size for one year do I need surgery?

1.2 cm: 1.2 cm is less than 1/2 inch. I am pretty sure that it is not the same cyst stayed for a year. Small cysts developed on ovaries every month and then ovulation occurs and they go away, then return in next cycle.
Anyway such a small cyst is not a cause to be worried. ...Read more

When should I seek medical attention regarding an ovarian cyst 4.7 CM in size?

When should I seek medical attention regarding an ovarian cyst 4.7 CM in size?

Wait: Cysts come and go with your cycle. While 4.7 cm is a little larger than usual it is not big enough to be of concern. As long as it is a simple cyst and unless it is somehow symptomatic, you do not need to do anything. If you are worried, recheck it after a couple of cycles. ...Read more

Hi my ovarian cyst size is 6.8 CM in size. Kindly suggest is it possible to cure by nonsugical.?

Depends: Your cyst can be followed if it's a simple cyst without any features that are worrisome for malignancy. If there are multiple septations, thickened membranes, nodules, irregular sides, etc; you should have a surgical procedure to rule out pre-malignant or malignant tissue. Also, this size can occasionally torse (twist) & can cause severe pain. Talk to your doc re: your cysts characteristics. ...Read more

I have ovarian cyst and its size of a lemon. What to do?

See your OBGYN: You need followup, you may need bcpills to try to shrink it or you may need surgery to remove the cyst and or the entire ovary, I would see your obgyn today as if you haven't seen one you will need evaluation and close follow-up and the best course of management depending on the kind and the exact size of the cyst and your fertilitty situation. ...Read more

I have a 3cm septated ovarian cyst. At what point/size should it be surgically removed. I have a hx of Dermoid Teratoma/partial oophrectomy.

It depends: Good evening,

It appears that you already follow with GYN, so they should be able to tell you when the cyst should be removed. Many times, the cyst is monitored every 6 months to a year for interval increase in size. If the size remains stable over time, there is no need for intervention. Good luck. ...Read more

I've had a functional ovarian cyst on left ovary that fluctuates in size between 2.5 and 3.5 cm with symptoms for 18 months that won't go away.

Tiny ovarian cyst: This ovarian cyst is only 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter, and I question that its' size is the source of your symptoms for 18 months. Have your GYN MD re-evaluate your symptoms and if necessary obtain a 2nd opinion. ...Read more

Can an ovarian cyst of this size (10 cm), eventually resolve itself?

EXTREMELY unlikely: I would almost say 100% no. That size of a cyst is too large to resolve itself, and should be removed surgically, due to the risks of it being a tumor (need to rule out malignancy) and due to the risk of torsion (where the ovary twists around it's artery and vein, cuts off the blood supply to it and causes severe pain). Sorry, but you really need to have surgery to remove it. ...Read more
