Will Smoking Weed Affect A Cat Scan
Mother died bac lung cancer at 47. She was light cig smoker. I quit (12 year heavy marijuana use) months ago. What are my chances of lc - when to start screening with lose dose CT scans?
Smoked alot of weed for 7 years now and quit smoking cigarettes after 4 pack years. About to be 25. Should I get a CT scan to check for cancer or no?
Difficult but no CT: Cancer is extremely rare in someone who is 25 years old. Because of the radiation exposure, I would not recommend a CT unless you had more than a worry to suggest Cancer. Unexplained weight loss and loss of appetite are associate with Cancer. Smoking pot or cigarettes puts you at increased risk for cancer. You are young enough that stopping both is best and will lower your risk in the future. ...Read more

Negative VQ and (presumably) ct angio of the pulmonary arteries essentially excluded pulmonary embolism, or clot in the lung blood vessels.

Ct scan report says nodular opacities and calcification in left upper lobe. No cough; blood in sputum; history of smoking 12 years (10 per day).?
Nodules: You need to see a pulmonary dr. To get an evaluation and have the areas assessed. The radiology society has "fleishner" guidelines that can serially check the nodule. You definitely need to stop smoking, as there is nothing good that comes from smoking. As worded in your question, . ..I assume you have no "blood in sputum" but if you do have blood in sputum, see pulm asap. Best wishes. ...Read more
6 x 8 mm stable spiculated apical plueral based nodular scarring & pulmonary nodules 4 x 6 mm. Follow up CT scan in 6 mos. Ok? Quit smoking 20 yrs ago

Depends: Ppd positive, work-up details (quantiferon assay?), characteristics on chest x-ray, on ct-scan and/or treatment would be important. 1st, are there any old cds to compare? If so, is the nodule truly new?
The 7 mm nodule could be infectious. Consider waiting a month and repeating the ct scan.
Given remote smoking history and nodule size, would lean towards pet/ ct 1st.
Biopsy may still be needed to prove cause. ...Read more

Probably not: The anesthesiologist will ask you a lot of questions, and you should answer honestly. Weed is a mind altering drug and just because it may be legal does not make it harmless. If you have tonsillitis you should be tested to see if it is strep throat and treated accordingly.
