What can causing intermittent tingling under one shoulder blade? Could it be shingles?

Occurs prior to the outbreak of the rash of shingles, but generally this happens within 10 days. The rash is like crops of tiny blisters that occur along a nerve path on only one side of the body. What would be some causes for getting a tingling/numbing sensation from the shoulder blade all the way to the tip of fingers?

Irritated Situation: If you have a cardiac condition, consult your physician for help. Cardiac symptoms differ for different people. Be safe rather than sorry. Alternatively, peripheral nerve entrapment from the scapula can cause this and even impingement closer to the spine along a specific dermatome (sensory path on the skin). Lastly, shingles (chicken pox) can cause symptoms anywhere along a nerve on the back. ...Read more

Shoulder blade cracked;nowleft arm goes tingling once in awhile. Can injured left shoulder cause me to feel more discomfort on elbow than my shoulder?

Tingling in arm: May be due to nerve or vascular compression (more often the former). The injury that resulted in the shoulder blade fracture may have caused another problem. (nerve root, brachial plexus, peripheral nerve) Sometimes traction to the ulnar nerve causes parasthesias down to the hand and discomfort around the elbow. A good neurological-exam possibly an EMG-NCS may need to be done to sort this out. ...Read more

Can herniate disc cause chin/ lip tingling? Have shoulder blade tendonitis & tear, tingling hands and ostheoarthritis. Emg said axonal polyneuropathy.

Not due to disc: Get further information about your peripheral neuropathy issues. After 5 days of suspected shingles symptoms without a rash and pain under shoulder blade around to breast area. What else could it be?

Shingle v. skeletal: Even in the absence of a rash, if you have had shingles in the past, you can still have "herpetic neuralgia, " which is simply nerve pain due to the inflammation of the nerves. Alternatively, this type of pain could occur due to "costochondritis, " which is essentially a pulled muscle between your rib spaces. Could have happened during exercise, sudden twist or even because of wire from a tight bra. ...Read more

Shingles left side stomach around to my back around shoulder blade. Now a few spots around nose on right side not pimples. Though was one sided?

Question unclear: I doubt there is any link between the nose & your shingles. That is a regional problem that follows a nerve distribution along its path. It can extend from the midline in the back to the midline in front one one side. If you have spots on your nose it is likely a minor staph/strep infection. ...Read more

I have a tingling feeling on my back right shoulder blade. Feels very weird and comes and goes. What could this be?

Mononeuropathy: It sounds like a small nerve is acting up. Sometimes this can happen due to injury (which I assume you didn't have) and sometimes due to medical conditions. If you don't have any other health problems, and you otherwise feel well, it is reasonable to watch and wait. If it persists over time, or becomes worse, you should see your doctor for a basic checkup. ...Read more

Initial study would be a simple chest xray. ...Read more

Hello, I am feeling this crazy tingling under my left shoulder blade. It feels so odd but doesn't hurt. Could it be serious?

Perhaps not so: Some patients will rarely experience a tingling irritating sensation over the middle of the shoulder blade or even below, and that is a problem locally perhaps secondary to trauma or virus, termed notalgia paresthetica. A thoracic disc may compress an intercostal nerve, and cause symptoms. Probably not a sign of progressive disease, but have your doctor examine it. ...Read more
