Peroneal subluxation: The surgery to re groove the fibula and possibly repair the tendon would require 4-6 weeks of healing and non weight bearing- no walking. Followed by 3-4 weeks maybe longer if physical therapy. If you are taking pain medications then school would be out. If can use crutches at school then maybe 1-2 weeks after surgery. Depends...: If you are 38, not participating in recreational sports , and have an isolated acl tear( no meniscus tear) then physical therapy to regain motion and strengthen your quads is an option...Functional knee bracing can be helpful in some patients. Discuss w/ your ors. If u develop 'giving way' episodes w/ normal activities (despite above)than acl reconstruction would be indicated. Best of luck! ...Read more
