Will Ovary Cancer Show Up On Sonogram
Let me try this again one ovary larger than other ovary only shows simple folllicular cyst on ultrasound nothing abnormal can cancer present a just an enlargrment with nothing abormal on ultrasound?
Not likely: Ovaries are very active organs with monthly changes, enlarging and shrinking. Cysts come and go. Usually pelvic ultrasound is repeated after 4-6 weeks. A tumor may persist. Cancer may continue to grow. In medically literature, a size greater than 5 cm may prompt surgical intervention. Again, there are no way to rule out cancer until the ovary is removed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more
My partner has a complex cyst on ovary found during ultrasound. She is 22 years old. How likely is is to be cancer? She has appt but is very worried.
Complex cyst: At age 22, the risk of a complex cyst being cancer is very low. More common causes, by far, are other types of cysts that will go away by themselves or a non-cancerous dermoid cyst. Often a cyst that forms when an egg is normally released can collapse or bleed inside itself. This is the most common cause of a complex cyst at her age. Usually we would repeat the ultrasound in a few months. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My ultrasound showed both of my ovaries enlarged due to complex cysts 4cm and 5cm. My doctor suspects endiometriosis. Can this be cancer? I am 27.
Not likely: Ovarian cancer is unlikely. It is good that you are under the care of a doctor. It would be a good idea to follow her/his advice. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex. ...Read more

42 yr. 2 doc confirmed by ultrasound a 5cm follicular cyst on rt ovary 2 yrs watching. Now ROMA high and refer to oncologist to remove. Is it cancer?
Not necessarily: Risk of Ovarian Malignancy Algorithm (ROMA) is a screening tests, which makes use of two serum biomarkers. What is my doctor looking for in a cat scan of pelvis after ultrasound (normal). I have pain in pelvis particularly r ovary. Cancer?
Pelvic pain: Ct scan shows more details of the pelvic contents. Cancer ovary is ruled out if normal ultrasound since it presents with cysts or masses which are easily diagnosed by the ultrasound. So stool analysis and blood tests will provide us with the clues. So better stop worrying about cancer with a negative provisional result. ...Read more
