How does a virgin get PID? I have lower left abdominal pain. History of ovarian cyst. 2 normal pelvic exams bu irregular bleedin.BloodTest show anemia
Cant be PID: Pelvic inflammatory disease requires that micro organisms pass up the vagina into the cervix and from there travel up the fallopian tubes to produce abscesses. Having ovarian cysts and bleeding into the pelvis with associated pain and a normal pelvic exam along with a virginal status rules out PID ...Read more
Can a dermoid cyst affect a baby's development if not removed? Does 7x8x6 dermoid on right ovary neccessarily have to removed during pregnancy?
Ovarian tumors: As long as the dermoid doesn't twist on its own blood supply (torsion) and cause severe pain, in general they are left alone until postpartum. On occasional ovarian tumors need to be removed in the second trimester, but i always suggest getting a maternal fetal medicine opinion before removing if possible. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Rarely a very large cyst (>8cm) can lead to ovarian torsion which is a medical emergency (you could end up losing that ovary). An endometrioma is a cyst filled with old blood. Endometriosis is associated with decreased fertility ...Read more

Have cysts on both ovaries, obgyn said its okay to try. Tested positive on ovulation tests. Could cysts affect the results?
No: Ovarian cysts won't affect the results of your ovulation testing. Ovulation is a biologic race between multiple follicles on your ovaries. A number of follicles will form cysts in an attempt to become the "dominant" follicle. That is why you have cysts. However, there is only 1 winner follicle in the race each month. The rest will fade away and never get a second chance. Best wishes! ...Read more
No: Cryosurgery probably does not affect the integrity of the cervix. Certain other procedures for cervical dysplasia such as cone biopsies or leep may rarely compromise the integrity of the cervix. Previous low grade dysplasia should not affect a pregnancy. High grade dysplasia in pregnancy should be evaluated with colposcopy as early as possible in the pregnancy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
