How do I know if I have ringworm? The last time I went they gave me something called"nystatin and triamcinole acetonide" what else can I use
Skin scraping: The most accurate diagnosis of ringworm would be skin scrapings with microscopic exam and culture for fungal agents. My 7 month old has ring worm on her thumbs and under her bottom lip should I use nystatin to treat it?
Probably not: Unfortunately Nystatin has lost it's effectiveness against most of the fungi that cause ringworm and we've had to resort to more potent topicals, and/or oral meds. With a 7 month old it is crucial that you first arrive at the correct diagnosis. Why are you sure it's ringworm? If it is, Clotrimazole might work but shouldn't be used on babies for more than 3 days. See your pediatrician. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
