Will lifting lighter weights still cause strain on the cervix?

Will lifting lighter weights still cause strain on the cervix?

Yes: Anything that uses your belly muscles will cause strain on the cervix. Unless you have a shortened cervix, a cerclage or preterm cervical changes, it shouldn't make any difference. The main reason to watch how much weight you lift while pregnant is to protect your back. Once you are past about 18 weeks, your abdominals give out and all the work of standing upright goes to your low back. ...Read more

Can even light theraband exercise on overstretched upper back muscles cause burning that has lasted for around 5 days. Trying to strengthen muscles.

Can even light theraband exercise on overstretched upper back muscles cause burning that has lasted for around 5 days. Trying to strengthen muscles.

It can. : 'muscle burn' occurs when you exercise strenuously enough to build muscle, and peaks at 24-72 hrs. It is caused by micro- tears in the muscle itself, which leads to the muscle to rebuild. If it lasts for 5 days, it means these micro-tears in your upper back are too overstretched and you will need to avoid mm strengthening exercise for about a week. Do light activities.Restart then every 2-3 days. ...Read more

Will the strain of lifting weights cause premature labor?

Will the strain of lifting weights cause premature labor?

Unlikely: If you do not have a history of premature delivery then lifting weights generally does not cause premature delivery. It can however cause back problems or pulled muscles. I recommend not repeatedly lifting anything more than thirty pounds during the third trimester. ...Read more

My high risk Dr. said I have a low lying placenta, that I should be on pelvic rest, no heavy lifting. I'm 24 weeks pregnant. How likely will the placenta not move to the top by the delivery date? What is max weight I can lift? Ok to walk 30 min/day?

I believe you're: referring to placenta previa where the placenta implants around the opening of the uterus (cervix). Generally, limit on weights is whatever you can lift using arm and shoulder muscles only. (5-10# +/-. Walking is probably safe, but check with your OB. Often the placenta migrates away from the cervix during 3rd trimester. IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO LET YOUR OB KNOW IF YOU HAVE VAGINAL BLEEDING. ...Read more

Can you tell me about if the weight of performing deadlifts and squats will worsen a calf strain, even though there's no direct stretching of the muscle?

Can you tell me about if the weight of performing deadlifts and squats will worsen a calf strain, even though there's no direct stretching of the muscle?

The calf muscles: still have to work even though you may not be stretching them, during the squats and deadlifts. Generally it is good idea to rest for a while, to give time for the strained muscle to heal, before starting the work out routine again, because you can keep aggravating the injured muscle repeatedly and prolong the recovery and delay the healing. Good luck ...Read more

Does a muscle ache have a negative effect on weight lifting besides being able to lift less?

Does a muscle ache have a negative effect on weight lifting besides being able to lift less?

Usually not: New research is showing that dull/aching pain days after weight lifting does not need to limit the athlete from holding off. Sharp stabbing pain or exercising the same muscles too soon after lifting to "failure" can be dangerous or counter-productive. ...Read more

Can working out on stationary bike irritate rib muscles 3 month after pneumonia? And cause tension in neck?

Can working out on stationary bike irritate rib muscles 3 month after pneumonia? And cause tension in neck?

Conceivable: If your irritated rib muscles are on the same side you had pneumonia would suggest a followup X-ray making sure you did not develop a pleural effusion on that side, otherwise common self limited complication of pneumonia. For the neck tension a variety of other possibilities are to be considered, but if there is a significant increase in your bike exercise slowing down will give you the answer. ...Read more

Hurt ITB (partial splits, weight went on it while I fell). Can walk, just hurts after. Any risks carrying weights in the gym to work out upper body?

Hurt ITB (partial splits, weight went on it while I fell). Can walk, just hurts after. Any risks carrying weights in the gym to work out upper body?

None I can think of!: As long as you can do activities within limits of discomfort, which you can easily tolerate, & the discomfort/pain is not getting worse, in the knee, then you can continue to move your knee joint as well. Certainly no harm in doing upper body workouts. If getting worse, see your orthopod. Good Luck. ...Read more

Started lifting weights and doing some push ups. Will any of my activity cause my breasts to change (get smaller or bigger)?

What should I do to recover from pain in spine after heavy lifting? Kinda out of shape and pudgy but used to lifting heavy boxes.

Core strengthening: 1st, allow your body to recover for a day or 2. Next, commit to a feasible three-pronged approach to improve your health/fitness. Weight loss will happen if you commit to all 3 aspects. Eat less at each meal striving for a well balanced diet. Increase your aerobic fitness by initially walking 30+ min. 3-5 days per wk. Work on core (abdominal) strengthening exercises. Say goodbye to back pain! ...Read more

Muscle strain: or sprain due to overuse is the most likely cause of your pain. Rest for a few days and when you return consider using lower weights and more reps to build up before trying to use maximal effort and weight. When lifting weights it is good to establish a base with low weights and more reps and not use any weight that requires maximal effort. It just sets you back. Consider having a trainer help ...Read more

Can lifting weights put tension on your back on make you shorter o stop yourself from getting taller?

Can lifting weights put tension on your back on make you shorter o stop yourself from getting taller?

This is my theory: Theoretically it's possible that excessive weight lifting (perhaps twice your body weight) may cause pressure & compression on the discs between the spinal vertebrae. This may be worse with dead lifts, squats & shoulder press & not much with bench press. ...Read more
